Maui b n b (no website yet but contact is: partnersusa@mac.com) is in danger of acquiring permanent residents. I am talking about mama and papa.
Well, of course there’s no place like home, so why aren’t THEY HERE?
I mean, where I am is home, right? Where I AM!
But mama wrote that if you have to be away from home and it happens that Hawaii is where you are headed, you would do very well to choose Maui and stay with the nicest people in the world, one of whom is always writing me sweet letters and sending me photos of kitties doing ridiculously funny things, and being in their bed and breakfast makes you just want to sit in the lovely, peaceful, tropical magic of their garden and gaze at the ocean and the myriad flowers and the little speckledy white chicken that appears to rule the roost now, so to speak.
Mama says she could spend days in the garden just watching the birds flit in and out and listening to the subtle sounds of the island as it breathes under her feet or watch clouds changing from moment to moment while silky breezes move across the soft green grasses where egrets stroll to find bug dinner.
BUT—that sweet little chicken does NOT want egret company and Rosalind, one of the owners, says that the chicky terrorizes the egrets and they rarely visit when she is around. The chicken, not Rosalind. Rosalind also says that mama cannot come back here without ME next time around.
So I am pretty sure mama is going to send for me to take care of things. I am a protector of birdies BUT NOT CHICKENS.
Mama asked Barrie, the other owner (a famous animator in his day) whether he might want a nice chicken dinner some night, but he declined. “We love our chicken, that’s the problem.”
But papa’s sister who lives one street away just happens to know a very irritating rooster wno might be persuaded to trot over here (if roosters trot) and whisk this chicky away on a honeymoon to Honoloulou, never to be seen again tormenting egrets, so tonight, under a full moon, mama is going rooster hunting with a handful of organic, non-gluten, low-fat, non OGM, no artificial colors or flavors, rooster-friendly corn kernals (this is Maui, after all), and that rooster had better watch his back!
More on this saga later…I have to pack.
See, I’m getting better at the hula! (Grass skirt out of frame)
Oh my Goodness, LouLou,
I think that chickie must have read your blog because today, of all things, she brought two white friends with her for breakfast on the lawn!
I think they may have had a little too much catnip in their breakfast tea, because, her friends are now gone and she is having what appears to be a very long nap in her favorite spot next to the cabana wall between the two christmas plants.
I really don’t know what to think – is she starting up her own B&B just for white chickies?
I think I am really in need of your help – and sooner rather than later – I’ll keep you informed,
Hugs, Ros
Oh, mama had such a lovely time but next time I really MUST go along if these problems are to be handled properly. More chickens??? Not good.
sounds like your mama and papa are having a good time and being entertained by a chicken. You do need to pack your bags forthwith and get your furry but to Maui. How neat your mama is staying with one of her blogging friends.
Yes, it worked out so well and the b and b is a quiet, meditative place (no kitties, unfortunately–that is, no kitties YET!!!). A lovely blogger to be with!!!
I bet you would look cute in a grass skirt LouLou. I am glad your folks are having fun.
Well, they SAY they are but I know better.
Oh LouLou can me come with ya’? What fun we would have in Maui. MOL Me would have chicken fur dinner real quick. But me has to tell ya’ Egret doesn’t sound bad either. MOL
Luv ya’
Dezi
Oh, Dezi you are such a rascal…Yes, egret for appetizers and then the main chicken course!!! I just hope that I get there on day, and can take friends.
