HEY, I got mail!
Well, another postcard arrived, telling us all about the Palazzo Barberini, which, frankly, I do not think is the most beautiful of all the palazzi in Rome (having perused my palazzi research tome) (whatever that is), but this staircase, although not to heaven, did impress mama enough to send a photo.
And I have to say, the ceiling in the meeting room of popes and kings and visitors speciali is pretty breathtaking.
But so many ceilings in so many palazzo are really overwhelming, mama says. Maybe she’ll snap a few more. There is always the Palazzo Farnese with some x-rated stuff by the Caracci brothers — hmmm, maybe she’ll send me THOSE, but then again, I may be under-age, haha.
Well, as you see, I put in a link so you can see for yourselves (they were great artists after all) and I won’t be responsible for the corruption of innocent minds.
The gardens of the palazzo are terribly neglected, probably due to lack of funds to pay a lawn mow-er. The person, not the machine.
Mama was dying to get her hands on the roses, which need serious pruning, but she didn’t want to use her Swiss Army knife and possibly get thrown out of the palazzo, haha.
Mama says that this photo is of her new ‘do’, inspired by the lawn.
Well, as you can well imagine, THEY manage to laugh and cut-up without me, but THEY’LL see soon enough that I, too, have MY ideas of fun, heh, heh.
THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING…
What a beautiful place! Could you imagine running up and down that staircase, Loulou?
I like your momma’s vacation greenery do. Tee hee hee. She looks happy, but at the same time I’m sure she is missing you terribly. Hmm… that furr-esco ceiling is surely be-au-ti-ful, but you know what it is missing? It is missing a painting of you in it. Then it would be complete. Winks.
Hey, I might be a bit TOO x-rated for those Caracci brothers…
Ahhh – palazzo Barbarini, mama sighing…..but how can one saw what is Most Beautiful in a City with so many beautiful things!? Count your lucky stars Loulou – the are dragging (well, pushing me in my poussette, actually) all over the Lake Country and the guidebook said Bellaggio – the most beautiful town of all the lakes – huh? Well, the windows do have the most expensive stuff and the same food as elsewhere costs a third more. Ohhhhh, for the pleasures of an evening kibble at Blue Beach in Nice…….
Oh, to have bowl with you at Blue Beach….THEY can do other things, haha.
The palace gardener may be free on Tuesdays, if that is of any help to them? But have to allow time for him to get there as he is elderly and his bicycle ancient mol.
Hmm as to those ceilings, they sound way more interesting than ours, which have just cobwebs and spiders mol
Totally envious of your weather though, and may have to decamp to your parts for the summer (and winter!)
Toodle pips

You are more than welcome to come, with gardener, Erin!
LOL Your Mum does look funky!!!!
We love the Palazzo and yeah, we agree about the roses too!
Mama says you HAVE to prune, prune, prune. But I thought that was a fruit!
Uh, do you think your mom would be greatly offended if we prefer her regular hairdo to her new leafy one? 🙂
Would hate to have to go up and down, up and down that staircase, wouldn’t you?
That’s exactly what mama said—OH, those stairs. Plus you could be ambushed on any floor if someone wanted to take over the head honcho’s place, haha.
Great photos by mama, as always. But that one of you and your toy, looking kittenish and enjoying it so much, is beautiful to us kitty aficionados. (Naked anthros ? Well, as my friend Bill said after he had gone to a topless bar “Seen one, you’ve seen ’em both.”)
Oh, you wild thing, you. We’d love to meet your friend, Bill! FUNNY.
