They just leave me here to watch TV and go off galavanting…
Well, first day of SXSW…South By Southwest in Austin. That’s Texas. Everyone knows that, I’m pretty sure, and mama keeps calling me on the phone and saying, “Loulou, Loulou” and I think she’s right there in the room but what she’s really doing is telling me stories about this crazy town where a gazillion movies and rock bands and blues bands and jazz bands are going to fill up the streets with music and merrymaking for the next week or so.
She was telling me tonight about Chef, a new movie about…well…a chef, and his cute little son, who cooks in a fancy restaurant and then things start happening to him about which I will say nothing because it’s a surprise story and I don’t want to ruin it for you. But mama and papa said, “Loulou, you would have really liked this movie, especially the cooking part, because this guy could really wield a chopping knife and some of those dishes were muzzle-watering miracles.”
Just as well I didn’t see it, what with only Purina morsels and kibble to tide me over until my nice kitty-sitting friend deigns to throw me a tidbit of poached salmon. Or whatever she’s having.
And mama says that the festival right now is really about movies like The Grand Budapest Hotel or Only Lovers Left Alive or a hundred brand new movies by young directors and writers that range in subjects from family squabbles to teen-agers helping in hospices for the elderly. Young movies, young movie makers and young actors and a huge array of documentary films and shorts, some of which even have kitties in them! So there.
I guess I’d better go brush up on my lines.
You never know when the lead might sprain a paw and guess who’ll be right there?
Hark!! What furry creature goes there, I pray thee? My kibble, my kibble, my kingdom for a kibble!
