My Grandma, Ros, wearing the little starfish pin I sent her.  I think it is trying to climb up her neck to give her a kiss.

I miss my Granny…

Well, actually, the truth is that this lovely lady anthro above has adopted me as her Grandkitty and sends me all sorts of interesting news about how to handle my wandering MAMA AND PAPA (!) and if she could, she would be showering me with kibbles and possibly a diamond collar, maybe a couple of Armani kitty sweaters for winter, you never know.

But for me, the important thing is that she fell a little in love with my kitty-ness and so now I have a grandma and am very, very happy!

Plus she lives on Maui and owns with her husband, Barrie, the most lovely of bed and breakfasts (whatever they are) called Maui B n B.  AND…that is where mama and papa stay when they visit my auntie Paula who doesn’t really even know I exist because she and her honey are dog people so, there it is.

But in this quiet, meditative place, beautifully landscaped with all of Maui’s unforgettable flowers, palms and plants, one can pass the sunny days by the pool, or read in the enormous inviting living area or cook whatever one wishes in the most complete kitchen mama has ever cooked in!  Every part of the house is spotless and peaceful, the décor quiet and inviting and the lively stories from Barrie, a retired famous cartoonist, keep one entertained during the visit.

A view from one of the sweet rooms (with bath).

Mama says it’s the most lovely B and B on Maui and she and papa have visited several, but this one is very different, close to Paia for wonderful groceries from Mana Market, a very good sushi bar called Nuka in Haiku, and only 15 minutes from the famous Mama’s Fish House (call early for a table ahead of time as you plan your trip -this place is spectacular and mama has promised that when we go one day together, I will have my little piece of mahi mahi from their menu–in my dreams).

Mama’s sushi special with pink radishes that look like little parasols!

Kahului and the airport are really only about 25 minutes from where you land.

I wanted to talk about this, because anyone planning a Hawaii trip would do well to look into Maui B n B, especially if one wants the peace and quiet that I happen to want when I travel!  (A closet on the ferry has to suffice…sigh.)
