Well, they look (ed?) like this, except without a blue stone…
A difficult day around here. Mama has lost a necklace she has had for over 50 years and her aunt Elizabeth probably had them for another fifty years before that, and it wasn’t really a necklace but instead, earrings that mama had put on a thin chain after having broken off the posts in back with a pair of pliers…
That’s mama.
Today, when she went looking IN THE STREETS (good luck! or “in bocca al lupo” as they say in Italian…) between the cobblestones and in little shops where she stopped yesterday or the day before, she spoke with a woman who said, “You know, maybe whoever has found them really needed them and so will have a better life.'” And that really helped mama a lot because if you think about it, as papa said, something you wear every day, every day for years on end has the possibility to get lost, and mama had a really long run with those earrings. It’s just that she feel so dumb because it was just a month ago that she said, “Gee, I had better have this chain looked at for wear even if it still looks strong” and did she go do that? Unfortunately, no.
But I’m trying to comfort mama and I was really good in the night and snuggled even closer to her because we kitties feel these things, even if we don’t have any idea what’s going on. I did that with papa when he had a cold, but I’m not sure he noticed…I was going around rubbing on all his things and sleeping on his jeans and leaving good vibes everywhere, but good vibes don’t have much substance and so anthros don’t realize when we kitties have taken matters into our own hands. Hey, I have a great idea—I could lend mama MY necklace!
All we have to do is change the name on the tag!!!
Oh, no, we’re sorry your mom lost her earring necklace that had such sentimental value. It’s really sweet of you to offer to let her have your necklace. Will she take you up on it?
