Well, I lost May Day, 2021, so here is last year’s. Hey, what could I do? I can’t find it!
Well, it is the custom here in France on May Day to give little bouquets of lily-of-the-valley to the females although I think they should go to male and female, and kitties. I guess this little bunch will have to do for everyone.
And they smell really nice, too! I think mama’s mama once wore a perfume that smelled like these, and it was called Diorissima. Mama says all the nice old perfumes seem to be gone…
But we have roses. And boy, are THEY smelly!
Er…in a nice way, that is.
Happy May Day to All
I wish we gave bouquets of catnip on May Day.
Oh, we could have sent you LOTS and LOTS
Happy May Day LouLou. That has to do with Workers Rights Day adn you do a lot of work
Yes, and I have a red scarf around my neck, too. For the coal miners long ago. Hence the name “redneck”, which has NOTHING to do with southeners.
Oh my Mom loves lilies of the valley….what a wonderful scent! My Mom checked online and that Diorissima that we think your Mama wore is still available. We won’t post a link because we tried and our comment was blocked as spam but try googling Diorissima and you’ll see you can still buy it!!!!!!!
Hugs, Teddy
Oh, thank you so much. Mama wears Bellodgia now and has for…umpteen years….and it was her mama’s favorite so mama started long ago and papa just gave her a bottle. We’ll try for the Diorissimo soon and THANK YOU.
Oh we like the way lilies of the valley smell, we used to have some.
You asked about the Confederate jasmine? It is a vine so it does do the viney thing. It doesn’t smell the same as our Carolina Jasmine (it has yellow blooms) but Mom says it does smell somewhat similar. But we have no idea how they both smell in comparison to other jasmine as those are the only two we are familiar with.
Thank you for enlightening me. Our is really smelly but good smelly.
We have scads of lily-of-the-valley here, but they aren’t blooming yet, darn it!
Oh make your mama some Diorissimo perfume with them, I’ll bet you can you smart kitties. Maybe just put them in a vase and let her rub on them as I do my NIP!!!
My mommy used to wear Poison but she kept sneezing and now she can’t wear any cologne or perfume at all. And when I was a little girl in Oregon my sister and I used to pick flowers of any kind on May 1st and leave on our neighbors doors for Mayday. I think my grandma brought that tradition from Sweden!
Loves Patzy
Mama did that, too, in Texas. And she actually went round a MAYPOLE in Canada as a little girl.
Happy May Day, Loulou! That’s a nice tradition of giving flowers.
Yes, and as Patzy said, in the past children used to leave flowers on doorsteps of neighbors. Maybe that will happen again……
Ooooh – Loulou, you have such a way with words, teehee…… I don’t know about you, but I’ll bet you’re as glad as I am not to be in the back seat of a car!! How nice to stay home, huh? Mama and Papa want to go to Italy for food, but they can’t, teehee. Well, in any case – happy (belated) May Day!!!!
Oh, horreur, the back of a CAR!!! Maalox, here I come.
Happy May Day Loulou!
Merci, Brian, and sweet roses to you all.
Happy May Day! XO
Xxxxoooooto you Ellen.
Well, Lilies of the Valley are poisonous so maybe not for kitties, but they are beautiful and do smell wonderful.
OH, NO. Mama’s mama was wearing POISON? Glad she changed to Bellodgia….
