These ladyanthros look as if they have just done some diving–what’s not to like? And whose business is it anyway?
La mer, being ‘sea’ in French. I don’t want to get too into politics here, but mama and papa and friends were discussing the burkinis on the beaches and everyone has a very strong opinion pro and con for the French decision to ban the burkini.
Personally, I think it’s silly. Freedom to wear what you please on a beach is part of the freedom one come to this country to enjoy and I suppose you would have to ban necklaces made with a cross if you are going to say that what someone wears is a religious statement instead of simply a choice of apparel. And who is to say what the woman wearing the burkini is thinking or what personal choices she may or may not be following?
Maybe they should ban the fatkini. Now wouldn’t that be doctrinaire and prejudiced?
It’s really nobody’s business what ANYONE wears (at least it seems that way nowadays!) in a free country. You can laugh at apparel or be shocked at apparel or have your uptight-ofay ideas of what OUGHT to be worn shaken a bit, but in the end, what anyone wears is his or her business unless it’s school uniform designated by the schools. In mama’s school, the girls wore uniforms and there was a zipper down the front and a very sexy girl, friend of mama, used to unzip her front fairly low (for the seventh grade, that is) and she was always being given citations for breach of uniform.
(I don’t know how this got in here–these are NOT the uniforms at mama’s school, but pretty close.)
Mama thought it was wonderful, of course, and all the girls wanted to do it but of course, this particular friend had SOMETHING to show under the zipper and others (read: mama) did not. Sigh…
Sort of like this but straight skirt and all blue and white stripes, mama says. Still, a zipper to unzip!
I suppose I could unzip my fur in the front and be sexier, but I just don’t have that interest. I contemplate far more intellectual ideas, like the study of sleep and how it affects the well-being of kitties to aid them in their quest for truth.
I’m with you, to wear what you want is a part of freedom too… and specially when libertè is the motto of our nation, we should be more tolerant… think the people who wear nothing or who hang around topless on our beaches are much more worse :o)
Yes, France loves equality and yet is imposing rules on women who have only made a choice. Not an affront.
I think people should wear what they want as long as they keep some parts covered.
Yes, there are nude towns and beaches for that and I think people who are naturalists feel better in those than on the beach, alone!
Loulou, you are a very wise kitty. Or maybe I just think so because I agree with you and have wondered from afar (Ohio) why this was done. I would not appear on a beach in anything less than a baggy tee-shirt and cargo shorts.
Oh, I’ll bet you are pretty cute in anything. I, for one, just wear my birthday suit everywhere and no one seems to mind. Thank you for commenting! OHIO. Wow, a long way from France.
Those are some strange bathing suits…but if they want to wear them…so be it. Though we think they’d be kinda hot in them.
Yes, they look awfully hot to me, too, knowing MINE is hot and I can’t take it off to dry!!!
Jan has no desire to wear a bikini, but she knows how to sweat and those burkinis look HOT!!!!! Those women look like they’re jogging or running and Jan is sitting here in shorts and a short-sleeve shirt sweating buckets just looking at their picture. But perhaps France isn’t humid as it is here?
Oh, it can get very, very humid. Like Houston, where mama is from. Humidity is high often and it’s muggy before rains. I’m sure you guys try not to ask for lots of cuddles in warm weather, right?
Oh LouLou You’re so cute. So much so you don’t need to worry ’bout such things. Besides, mommy says us girly cats dat have had ‘spa days’ don’t really have da need to be sexy. MOL As fur da laws and paw;otics, we have to say we’s a little glad to hear this one. Crosses could be banned as an expression of religion, except it isn’t just Christians wearing them. We think it’s passed time to stop accommodatn’ these peeps and their religion. Their worship calls for the subjugation or murder of anyone who won’t follow their god and laws.
Anyways, enuff pawlotics, you be lookin’ luvvly as always. Have a pawsumly blest day.
Luv ya’

But those are only some awful, radical people. The Muslims who live good lives and do not believe in the radicals of their culture are very good people and have contributed much to our civilization and culture also. And many are simply people who love the US and live and work in the US and hate what the radicals have made of their beliefs. There are good and bad in any country. Even the USA.
