Newspaper perusal wears me out!
Well, actually, it’s not news about mews, but there are some pretty wonderful anthro items in the papers today. A black, female is Chicago’s new mayor and she has vowed to work with the candidate who lost to her to heal that battered city. I read a couple of newspapers with mama each morning, and when there is positive news, we are both happy since there are so many negative articles.
Another story that made us both weep was about a 13-year-old Palestinian boy, sitting next to an actor on a bus. This is worth a read if you have time.
And it made mama think a lot about sympathy and empathy and the difference between the two.
I think about that, too. But I think it’s easier for an anthro to really ponder those strong emotions. I know that we kitties have empathy because when our anthros are sad or worried or depressed, we’re pretty good at turning them around—a little rub on the ankles, a paw stretched out to touch, kitty kisses with our eyes, all of those can help our anthros when they have the blues or are afraid.
But this kid was amazing, no?
If only violent and frightening check points could be removed from his young life NOW!
And be replaced with a wealth of choices and opportunities for this courageous and empathetic young man.
And mama believes that he will find them, no matter what.
I know for sure!
What a wonderful story of courage. Its heartbreaking what the Palestinians have to deal with on a daily basis. So incredibly cruel. And yes, LouLou empathy is always better than sympathy.
A beautiful story and a glimpse of what the Palestinians have to deal with on a regular basis. The world has gone nuts and power corrupts. Hoping Netanyahu along with his orange friend will be soon GONE. That was mama speaking. Moi, Mya, just give me kibble and hugs.
Oh, Mya, we are so lucky that we don’t have to deal with these crooks, these idiots, these power-hungry, arrogant anthros who are so skilled at ruining others’ lives. And who are so dangerous to decency.
Yep, there is a big difference between sympathy and empathy, isn’t there!
Yes, indeed, but they both have their place.
Whew ! That article should make us all think what we might do in that situation.
It was pretty amazing. I thought about it all day.
