Won’t you help? Just drop a note to Alexandra and say hi.
I know I have mentioned this website before, but I think it’s best to emphasize again the cruelty with which the citizens of Montenegro treat stray animals.
My friend, Mungo, from Everycat just sent me the blogsite of a friend of his who kindly dedicated one of his blogs to information about all 0f the mistreated animals of Montenegro, and Mungo also sent the website of the woman who is trying to save the tortured, abused and maimed kitties of that place (see below).
Where on earth do people get these ideas about animals, that animals are to kick and hurt and bully and use as targets for their own unmanaged fury? Bullies, all. Yes, bullies, because that’s what a larger creature is who knocks around a smaller one just for the hell of it. Horrible to imagine. You may look at the website and see what you think and if you can come up with any ideas for Alexandra to help these kitties in Montenegro, please contact her.
Of course, what’s really needed is help for the poor, bereft-of-feeling anthros who evidently had no education that included learning to show kindness to animals. Perhaps they treat one another that way. I wouldn’t be surprised.
Where does one start? Well, one can start by contacting Alexandra and showing solidarity. I love her photos of kitties and perhaps one day her book will be for sale!
Speaking of abused animals, I was a little upset today when mama sent me a photo of these two little sister-brother doggies she had just met, Sam and Maybelle (named after Maybelle Carter, that wondrous warbler of country music), but when I learned that they had come from a litter found under the floor when the animal protection agency came to chastise the cruel owners of their MOTHER, I felt okay about it. Plus Sam is afraid of everything because of his childhood treatment and Maybelle tries to keep him calm and happy.
Maybelle, Kimber the rescuer, and Sam
But still, if mama keeps collecting adorable animals all over the place and thinks I’m going to just stand by and watch it with equanimity (whoever that is), she has another think coming!
(They’re pretty cute, though…)
Thanks for writing this about Alexandra’s efforts to help cats in Montenegro. I’ve been tweeting about the situation there since I saw her tweets under @catsMNE
Anyone who wants to support her efforts can help by buying her e book on how to take pictures of cats. Here’s the link http://usyaka.wordpress.com/the-art-of-cat-photography/
The situation with stray dogs there is terrible also. There is an online petition regarding one of the dog shelters at this link https://www.change.org/p/to-the-mayor-of-budva-montenegro-open-the-door-for-the-volunteers-and-visitors-of-asylum-pastrovska-gora-budva-montenegro?recruiter=154751230&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_facebook_responsive
please sign and share . Thanks.
PS: Montenegro has a cat museum to tourists think the country loves cats. They don’t realize the cats they see and take photos of are not being spayed or neutered and not treated as the ambassadors for Montenegro that they are. This post even touted the country as a cat destination. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/12/20/the-cat-s-meow-top-10-destinations-for-feline-fanatics.html
Not until they stop mistreating their cats!
Yes, they are pretty cute.
It’s terrible that abuse happens in any country!
Loulou, thank you so much for this post about Alexandra. It’s so kind of you to help out this way. I will tweet this post, so it gets more attention for her work.
So many countries where there has been internal conflict end up being horrid places for animals. I guess when apes stop hurting each other, all they think is left for them to do, is to hurt animals
What sweet little Dachshunds, poor babies, it’s wonderful that Maybelle is a minder for her brother.
