(This is a reworked blog about the new moon because I have added a link to a very nice company that makes kitty doors.)
And YES, I AM ALONE! As you well know. Well, not exactly, but sometimes it FEELS that way.
Tonight the summer sky is a deep blue, and mama told me to go outside to see the new moon so I wouldn’t see it through the French door or a pet door or a window, because if you see the new moon through glass, that’s bad luck. When mama or papa sees the new moon that way, they have to do a magic thing, which is to turn each other around and around, depending on who saw it the wrong way, three times and then the other way three times and then the spell is broken and luck returns. Whew! (Of course, they are always so dizzy after that, they almost fall down!)
Haha, they aren’t superstitious or anything, haha, and papa tells the story of a really nice man who worked for papa’s ex-father-in-law long ago whose friends came over to hang out one evening and all the friends were talking about werewolves, and papa’s father-in-law’s worker who thought of himself as much more sophisticated than his buddies said, “Oh, you guys, you know there is no such things as werewolves, and EVEN if you saw one, to be safe, all you’d have to do is climb a ladder!”
Welll, I laughed and laughed at that tale, because it was so charming and because everyone knows that if you see a werewolf coming, you climb a TREE. Boy, some people just don’t know what’s what.
I climbed on this chair instead. And that werewolf knows he can’t get me here!
That’s exactly right! Trees are safe cover from those beasties and zoms. I bet if you had a silver tooth that would scare them off too (I’m guessing on that one. Tee hee hee!).
Hey, how about a silver collar…from Cartier or somewhere?
I too have never heard that about the moon through glass.
Have a super weekend…
Noodle and crew
Just be sure someone is there to turn you around.
We hope we never see a werewolf!
I think the “were”in the word means you won’t.
Wow – mama never heard of th superstition-thing – but saw enough werewolf movies in her childhood to remember. She says I’m supposed to howl at the full moon, but she cant remember if that’s to call – or scary away the bad guys!! So, guess I’ll just keep my mouth closed. Unless food is involved……
Oh, Mya, a werewolf would be a was-wolf if you took over, haha.
Werewolf. I had to look up that word. Of course, that’s the loup-garou of my childhood.
I owe him a good many frights…
If you saw a werewolf coming, you’d probably climb a tree VERy quickly!
Never heard the moon-through-glass superstition. Werewolves MIGHT be able to climb a ladder, as some dogs can master that. And were-jaguars (they were big in the Mesoamerican cultures) could DEFINITELY climb a tree OR a ladder. Stay safe !
You are a wealth of info, Mary! You have become our oracle, whatever that is.
