YAY. Maple leaves, forever.
Well, after the burkini debaucle, here is really good news from Canada. You’d think that the people who are trying to ban the burkini in France would have better things to do with their time.
M. Hollande is not long for his office anyway and he’ll certainly not be re-elected.
The wonderful news is that in central Italy they are finding more and more people alive under the rubble, and that’s uplifting for us all. Let’s hope there are more and more each day.
Mama lived in Canada when she was little and went to school there and sang “God Save The Queen” each morning and swam in icy waters of the Bow and Elbow rivers (yes, those are their names!) and ate delicious fish and chips and had a doll from a 10-cent store that she adored for years until it fell apart and in winter, she wore heavy parkas and went up into the snow near Banff and Lake Louise, some of the prettiest country in N. America and had a best friend name Sylvie. Every year in Calgary there was a celebration called The Stampede, and every year the Blackfoot Indians of the region could come to it free, but one year the council started charging the Indians a fee to come and so they did a rain dance and the Stampede was under water for the whole week!!! I love stories like that. The Indians, after all, were performing artists for the Stampede and were certainly not used to fees for THEIR presence. All the streets were mud and the horses got stuck and there was a BIG damper on tourism. Moral: Do not be an Indian giver, haha.
I hope this burkini thing is settled pretty soon so that everyone can get back to REAL problems of the world.
As for me, I’m pondering them now.
You’re pawnderin’ now huh LouLou? MOL Well dat’s fur sure our kinda pawnderin’ Enjoy dat nap.
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
I think I ponder about 15 hours a day….do you?
If cats ruled the world, it would be a better place… Purrs
Yes, far better. We know what’s what and what’s not.
I have egg-streme doubts that Mr. Flan will be re-elected :o) Let’s hope that we get a president who takes care for the important things…
Oh, I hope so much that the elections of both countries will be good ones with good people at the helm. Good luck on that one….
OMG, Vampira, oops I mean Loulou – what big teeth you have!!!!! I’ll have to be careful not to get on your bad side. I’ll even learn the words to God Save the Queen – and bark them with a British accent!!!
BUT don’t be too sure about Hollande – yet. Sarkozy is in the wings and if it’s not Juppé who runs against Hollande, it will be choosing “entre la peste et le cholera”. I’ll start learning to make a face like yours in the picture if this is what we get!!!
God Save the Queen!!!!
And ALL of those idiots want to continue to attempt to ban the burkini. You’d think they would have more to do in life than subjugate women.
I think I answered this but thank you again! I wish politicians had more to do with their time than subjugate and humiliate women.
Hi Loulou.
I dont agree with you on the burkini matter. There is a lot more to see in this than meets the eye.As the French say “tu vois cette affaire par le petit bout de la lorgnette”.
I am glad that all of us have opinions and think about things, but when women’s clothing choices come into play in a government that toutes “egalite'” in its national slogan, I am just a teeny bit irritated. So many muslim women have been able to enjoy themselves with their families on the beach for the first time in their lives and that is the importance of having attire for ALL women. What about scuba divers who could be harbouring bombs? What’s not religious about a nun in a habit on the beach? Who is going to prosecute HER? And as I mentioned before in my blog. perhaps the burkini should be mandatory for some bodes on the public beach…
Women and men should be able to choose whatever they wish to wear and it’s no one else’s business. It is fear that makes these mistakes.
You look very cute pondering the problems. If everyone looked at kitty photos, there would be less troubles in the world.
Oh, I think you are so right. Today there will be a very, very funny video on my blog and I hope you like it.
Loulou, that is the most incredible photo…sort of like Vampire cat. Since this stupid political campaign. started, Mom feels like making that face everyday and yelling her lungs out. We are praying for more survivors in Italy! Cannot blame you for giving up and having a nap. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Oh, boy, do I know what you all mean! It is so frustrating. At least we kitties have recourse to zzzzzs. Mama wants to yell, too.
I was not aware of the Bow & Elbow Rivers ! Did you and Mama know that in Virginia 4 rivers – the Ma, the Ta, the Po and the Ny flow together to form the Matapony River ? As far as I know the Mississippi tributaries all have different names and are not the Mi-the Ss-the Ip, etc.,etc.
WOW–thank you for that wonderful information. It may be that the inhabitants of Calgary call the Bow and the Elbow rivers by those names but I’m pretty sure they are called that by others, too. Love the Mississippi part!!! Have to look that up.
Here is a website for the Bow and Elbow.

Oh, what sharp teeth you have, Loulou!
What happened at the Calgary Stampede? We did a search and see it has a rodeo and we’re not sure what else.
Perhaps it has changed over the years but it used to have a circus and sideshows and all sorts of celebrations but maybe now it has become just a rodeo. Mama adored going to it as there were things like The Alligator Lady and The Bearded Baby…well, maybe not the baby, but other strange attractions that would, now, horrify her if they were shown! But in childhood, it was fascinating.
