Hey, I happen to love that Elton John and that particular song and he LOVES kitties, so there. So Daniel may be travelin’ tonight on a plane, but mama and papa’s grandson is arrivin’ tonight on a plane.
We hope.
His mama just called to say there was a FOUR HOUR DELAY from Olbia, in Sardinia where he was visiting a friend. So…the dinner is put off and the guests will be late, late, and my snuggles and pets from all these visitors will not happen until probably midnight! Or even tomorrow, oh, boy.
Meanwhile, mama is making her focaccia, because they love it, and their rental house has wine in the fridge and olive oil in the pantry and bananas in the bowl and they ought to survive ’til the ‘morrow (I love that word—my Shakespearean me just wriggles with that word!), but that’s if they survive the experience of THREE different planes coming in from THREE different places to meet in a FOURTH place and then piling in a rental car and driving two hours to get to the pasta alla romana that mama’s making.
Mama’s stepdaughter is a master at managing four children, now almost grown, who, in summer, could be possibly anywhere on earth, and so to see any of them in one place is not an easy task.
I’ll keep you posted on the arrival, but meanwhile, I guess I could look on the other side of this: I AM THE CENTER OF ATTENTION for another four hours (thank you, whatever airline that is that is late), but I’m so, so sorry for Oliver who is thirteen and traveling alone but who also is probably texting and doing games and passing the time just fine because things don’t seem to bother him and his good nature!
I just hope he’s good natured with ME. I’m going to need a companion with all this hullabaloo going on, someone to say, “Oh, poor Loulou—we have just been too busy to pay much attention to you and we’re so, so SORRY!”
If they speak to me at all the next few weeks….
HEY, anthros!!! This a selfie, just in case you don’t remember me!
Enjoy your family reunion whenever they all arrive. Until they arrive, nap. You’ll need the rest. 🙂
Well, I did nap and thank you for the suggestion. They petted and coddled and oohed and ahhhed over me until I had to nap again!
