Uh, oh, if Mr Groundhog sees his shadow, we’re done for…
You won’t catch ME going outside. What I don’t know won’t hurt me and I’m not about to run into THIS guy!
UH, OH, we forgot that today is Candelmas, CREPE DAY IN FRANCE. Have to run go make crepes for dinner with mama and papa. Even I can eat crepes!!!
We got lots of snow yesterday so I’m sure Mr. Groundhog didn’t even come out of his house to be able to see his shadow.
GOOD GOOD GOOD, winter won’t be long…er…I think.
Looks like WE will have more winter weather here….at least today it’s RAIN and not SNOW. Oh well…sooner or later Spring will be sprung and we can enjoy some NICER weather than we’ve had for months. So what kind of crepes did you have?
Hugs, Teddy
Mama made cassonade crepes for papa, only brown sugar and Cointreau sprinkled over the top. But mama also made one with our neighbor’s INCREDIBLE orange gelée and that was pretty tasty, too.
Happy crepe day, Loulou! Yummy yum yum.
Oh, they were good, I am told…you get the picture…I can’t have them, who knows why?
Ohhhhh, I wish I were there so we could run down the stairs together and chase that groundhog!!! LOL!!! Mama’s not in form since shr is writng with her left hand!BUT – you will chase the groundhog!!
Oh, cheer up, maman, you hand will heal and you might write the Great American Novel, or at least not hurt when you type!
I want some crepes. XO
I’ll check with the Poste…not sure they accept them.
Easy to make:
1 cup flour
2 big eggs
1 1/4 cup milk
pinch of salt
Dash of brandy or cognac
4 tablespoons melted butter
Whip it all up and pour a ladleful into a hot buttered 10-inche skillet, rolling the liquid around to cover the bottom. Let cook until the crepe is dry on top, then remove to a warm plate. Best to let them get nice and brown before removing. Some people turn over the crepe but mama does that only when she wishes them a bit more crispy. They stay soft.
Crepes sound much better than snow!
WAIT—snow ice cream? Mama’s mama made it for her long ago but the snow is not very clean now, is it?
An old saying is “Half your wood and half your hay/You must have by Candlemas Day.” So an early Spring would be welcome but not too likely I guess. It is cloudy and now raining which is supposed to freeze (winter storm Landon) and make a real mess tonight…
Well, we have half our wood, and I guess you could call mama paillee de chaunvre (shredded hemp) our hay and we just got that in bags. All set! Thank you for the saying and sorry for your YUK weather.
Loulou, the groundhog that lives under our neighbor’s porch won’t see his/her shadow today; it’s pouring rain, which is supposed to change to mounds and mounds of snow.
However, it would be enjoyable to re-watch “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray; it’s a funny movie!
WE DID. And it’s a wonderful movie, and if your GH did NOT see his shadow, that means early spring for you all. Hooday. Or am I getting it backwards…and lucky you to have a real GH!
