Well, I’ve been gazing out on the street lately because the weather is so beautiful an people wander all around here because we are in the direct path of arriving at the Pantheon, a taxi stand, the little elephant, the vestment stores for priests (everything from socks to shoes to sweaters to white collars!), street magicians, horses and buggies and more, so I thought I’d snap a few shots of what goes on around here:
I
I see this nice man reading his paper on the hood of a car every day! Probably warm…
Priest shop–sort of a blank look on one of those guys, no?
Which reminds me of an incident I think I’ve already written about but what the heck: a friend of ours took her little 6 year old girl to church to start her religious knowledge and the priest came down the aisle in his (see above) vestments, swinging the incense burner, and when he got to her pew, she said, “Excuse me, sir–I really love your dress, but did you know that your purse is on fire?”
LOVE THAT!!!
An incredible take-out butcher near me…Wish I could get my little teeth into one of those!
Our local gelato store with almond flowers wrapped in colored cellophane. Num, num…
An invisible man on the street–not easy to get a photo of him!!!
YOU, TOO, CAN BE A GLADIATOR! Just slip on this apron and voilá…
Fresh-squoze (papa’s word) melagrana juice (pomegranate), which everyone lines up for in the open market. Good for your health but a little went a LOOOOONG way with me…
*SPQR — The Senate and People of Rome (Senātus Populusque Rōmānus), the SPQR symbol found on manhole covers and many other buildings, monuments and so on in present day Rome.
Great photos!
We love Rome…
Noodle and crew
I want to thank you for the poem, which I re-published today so that it would get around the net. I hope that’s okay. Great blog, Noodle.
Crikey! It’s shopping heaven for all cats AND people where you live Loulou. The ape is raving about those pretty little almonds, I am raving about that butchers, do they deliver? If they do, your Mama’s credit card is but a paw swipe away and one claw will dial their number, hint hint.
A priest shop! Brilliant!

Mungo xx
Mungo, you won’t believe this but there are about a gazillion priest shops around here. I’ll put some more ‘dresses’ up on the blog. They are spectacular works of artistry and embroidery. But I am NOT religious, okay? I just admire well-sewn things.
