I think I should practice for the “throw”…
Well, mama has always wanted to save time, go out in the garden in spring after the soil has been ruffled up and just THROW seeds over her shoulder and see what happens. And so she did that a couple of months ago when the weather was warm for a few days and guess what?
We now have a lovely little patch of French radishes that appears to be getting healthier every day. Mama thins out the packed-together baby plants, washes them off, and eats them with salt and a little butter. Decadent, if you ask me, but no one did…and I just saw her EAT THESE! And no butter for ME!!!
Now mama’s thinking that she might do the same with tomatoes and basil! We received seed packets from Burpee for Big Rainbow and Steak House Hybrid tomatoes, plus one I love: Pesto Party! Not sure if mama’s toss-over-the-shoulder method will work but there’s only ONE way to find out, right?
Uh, oh, there she goes putting the seeds into a little warm bath overnight…who knows WHAT will happen tomorrow?
And guess who just might gobble up all those precious seeds!
Uh, oh, more birdies about to show up for the party…
well, mama and papa’s new thing is radis noir! It’s black on the outside, white on the inside and very peppery-tasting. Supposed to be good for the health, so they’ve been eating a slice every day. but I don’t get any. But they give me a couple of kibbles instead – and yesterday papa bought kibbles for SENIOR doggies! Before it was LITE. Now they think I’m old and fat! They just think I can’t read.
Ha ha ha! Can’t read, indeed. Can’t THEY read that all doggies like you, Mya, cannot survive without a bowl of Cheetos every morning? Mama eats black radishes, too! I think they are WEIRD but she puts lemon and salt on them. Arghhhhh…
Well, there’s you some lunch and dinner too LouLou. MOL Big hugs
Luv ya’

YUK, radishes are too radical for me!
How oes she prepare the radishes ? Dipped in melted butter – or spread on ? I’ve eaten radishes with salt, but never thought of butter !
One of the most famous chef in France long ago ate, for his supper, only radishes with semi-soft butter (not melted or dipped, but cold) and bread with a glass of very good vino! Mama LOVED radishes and butter. But hey, you could put butter on the phone book and it would taste good.
Not sure if tomato plants would fare so well with the over-the-shoulder pitch. They can get rather large.
I think a little butter would be a kind gesture of sharing by her 🙂
Yes, someone would have to thin them. I think mama is going for the greenhouse-starting method…
