Well, you know, mama loves to read, and I read over her shoulder even if it’s not a book for kitties because I really like all kinds of books–mysteries, sagas (as in The Forsyte), thrillers, and now I am deep into a book with mama (for all of you book-lovers) entitled Old Filth. Odd name for a book and there is a reason, but oh, what a writer. “Filth” standing for “failed in London, try Hong Kong”, which is where some of the story takes place. And I just know there will be a kitty in one of the three books. I just know it.
But the wonderful writing of Jane Gardam is enough to keep us both up way too late at night. I will only say that it’s about a woman and her husband, both of whom are incredible characters, and how their lives unfold over many years, some time spent in London, some in Hong Kong, some in the country in the UK but all of it fascinating and full of characters that are very hard to forget.
Mama sometimes gets a bit lost in books and this is no exception. I think she’s about to get out her Chinese cookbooks. Hah, she has already gotten out the soy sauce and plum sauce and hoisin sauce and the RICE COOKER! And chopsticks will probably be on our table for the next few weeks!
But I never learned to eat with them! Who is going to feed ME?
Just kidding. As you know, we kitties do not have ANY trouble getting our food into the right place.
I just hope she doesn’t dress me in a cheongsam. There is no place for my TAIL!
When are we starting the third book, mama? I want to take notes this time.

Hey, you won’t catch ME eating that stuff. But mama loves to cook out of novels she is reading.
Very sad to see another kitty has left us. That sounds like a good book and I would love some Chinese food.
Yes, there seem to be too many this month…and Chinese food is quite easy once you have about six basic ingredients.
We love books!
They can take you anywhere in the world and you can still get back in time for dinner!
Have a great week…
