Would you belive it? Being of …um…a certain age…those gadabouts in Austin are booked for documentaries about Johnny Winter and Jimi Hendrix!!! What is this, second hippy-hood? Well, I guess if you’re going to choose musicians of the past, you really couldn’t do better. I listen to that stuff when mama puts the radio on for me when they go out (which is way too often for my taste, even if I AM asleep), because I really prefer opera or classical but what is a kitty to do? Change the station?
The music really hasn’t yet begun at this festival, but I’ll bet next week will be a humdinger.
Meanwhile, old wonderful Robert Duvall is going to speak to future movie makers and is in a film about a rancher forced out of his home and not about to be pushed into retirement and so takes a road trip with his estranged grandson. A Night in Old Mexico promises to be a great Duvall setting. I sort of like that guy, especially in that movie, Lonesome Tourterelle—right down my little ole’ bird-watching alley.
Mama called me yesterday and told me she feels as if she’s on the moon, or in a time warp, or somewhere unrecognizable and yet very, very familiar. Caught in the middle I guess, but how on earth IS she going to feel without me slumbering on their bed and putting out my little paws to pet them?
We’ll see how they feel when the music buffs hit town.
They may just hole up and watch it all on tv, haha.
Mama said to some kid the other day that she thought that she and papa would be the only people in Austin over 30, and the kid said, “COOL!” Whatever that meant.
Then papa said something about being on AOL and another kid said, “COOL!”
Which papa interpreted to mean, wow are you guys dinosaurs, so now papa is trying to get their address books onto an IPhone and get into the 21st century…finally.
Sometimes anthros are just a little bit slow on the uptake…
I’ve had my IPaw for over a year!
WOW! I didn’t know they could show that stuff on UTube!!! Uh, oh, I’d better get back to my blog…
