Some prepared bites at Ferocci, a snazzy meat market that we try to avoid. Unfortunately, for me!
I know, I know, I’m calling this Rome Bites but first I have to mention a wonderful blog for today all about French cats on a really fun site called Southern Fried French. That should appeal to all of you southerners out there, as there seem to be many who read my blog!
And now, that said about French kitties, of which I am one (but of course, ‘when in Rome, do as Romans’), I’d like you to see a little more of this lovely city and how things work in the summer and how sweet it is on the streets, and so on, even if it is around NINETY today! Caldo, caldo, caldo (hot). I think our word ‘scald’ comes from the Latin for caldo/hot. See what I learn when I loll around here doing nothing? Well, I’m all ears for languages and so I try to pick up a few pointers. Words, that is, not ears. And not hunting dogs, haha.
The Pantheon, mama’s favourite monument, with a big hole in the middle of its space. This is a church sometimes. I’m just looking at the chicken on that guy’s plate!
A pretty building near us in a curved piazza often used for movie sets.
Two wonderful waiters at Il Buco, one of the sweetest trattorie (that’s plural of trattoria) in Rome.
Mama’s supermarket, haha. Open air.
The capello (hat) seller. Does good business with this hot sun beaming down.
Pretty mosaic tables at a place for artisan, home-made gelato (ice cream).
More ice cream on the corner near us. Mama love the hanging cones, so original.
An original vase made from a salt box. Great idea, no?
An art shop near us with all sorts of lovely supplies.
A little family trattoria called Corsi with a wine room, too.
And guess who, eating olives and ice without ME, and I LOVE OLIVES.
Well, sort of…
Just for that, I’m giving these sheets of theirs one more quick rabbit punch!
Oh me kittens LouLou, lookit at all dat wunnerful food. Yummy. You should never avoid somethin’ dat looks dat good. MOL Enjoy
Luv ya’

Well, it was NOT for me, just for mama’s pictures. But yes, I do eat well here. Purina made in Italy. Pretty good.
Oh what lovely photos!
Thanks for sharing…

And thank you for your very insightful blog.
Pretty pictures. Thank you.
I have been looking at Southern Fried French for about a year now. Nice.
I must say I like yours better, Loulou, love your “In the Moment” feel. The sparkling personality of a little French kitty is the deal maker.
I enjoy seeing the locals in YOUR cities. Looking forward to seeing more.
Hugs
Sandra
Oh, thank you so much for liking my neighbours and neighborhoods. I seem to inhabit more than one! But it’s great fun exploring all of them. If only that bad Tody were not showing his privates all the time in the window of his anthro’s shop!
I wwondered about that! It was a bit of a giggle! : )
Giggles are always a good thing. Especially nowadays!
Great photos, nice to see your folks. That looks like a great place to shop.I would buy my husband a hat if I were there.
Rome sure looks like a fun place! Do you really like olives, Loulou? We think they would be fun to play with…but not to eat.
Well, you caught me. Yes, to play with…not to munch on. But I like to look as if I like them, like mojitos.
What a happy picture of your mama and papa. Eating olives? Did they at least bring you one? Jan had a cat once that went crazy over olives and always had to have one to play with before eating.
WOW a real honest to goodness olive eating kitty??? Oh, I wish I knew her now and she could teach me why they are so good. Fun to play with, but….
Beautiful market, and great photos ! We can feel the Italian atmosphere. Purrs
Yes, and so pretty in summer when all the fruits are ripe. It’s a lovely place to start off the morning. I’ll put in more pics soon after mama passes them on to me at the computer.
