Let’s make a pesto of ourselves, haha!

Oh, boy, some kids are really lucky. Mama gets really tickled when she sees the weekly menus in the newspaper for the kids’ lunches at schools around here, but this lunch in Italy is particularly amazing.

Isn’t that a great idea to introduce kids to music in such a creative way. And I loved looking at their little faces during the performance. You never know when a moment like that might touch a child and leave a memory that determines the direction of the rest of his or her life.

I think if I had had that experience I might have had a more pronounced voice on those fenceposts I used to inhabit when I was young and easy under the apple boughs. (Mama’s favourite poem, I just couldn’t resist quoting it.)

Just kidding, I was never a warbler on a fence as far as I remember, but I’ll bet there are lots of kitties out there who could take a lesson or two from these guys and not get shoes thrown at them at midnight!

Oh, by the way, the music was truly moving, but did you see those plates of pesto and parmigiano on the tables? Oh, boy…

And not one kid complaining. But when kids learn good food in childhood, they almost always turn out to be good eaters in adulthood, which is why mama thinks that Italians are the masters at getting their kids to really love food.

With me, it took no teaching at all, except mama has me addicted to olive oil drops on my food and I get sort of miffed when it’s not there. Maybe we’ll go for the parmigiano next…

Well, that was really good, but where was the extra virgin olive oil? You just can’t get good service anymore…
