OUTRAGEOUS!!! Shame on France. Shame on the Egalite’ that France professes to have. Shame on the police. Shame on France’s leaders.
I am a visitor in France. One might say, if you don’t like what we do here, leave. But there are also many French citizens against this law, this subjugating treatment of women, this arrogance of the government to dictate what women can and cannot choose wear. The rules of modesty that some women follow are a choice and a personal choice. And there are so many things I love about this country, but the government is not on that list right now.
Imagine yourself, a French national, three generations, living and working in France, with a family, being harasses and asked to UNDRESS on a beach in front of strangers, in front of ANYONE! Outrageous.
These humiliated, embarrassed women, citizens of France are being treated like criminals. Will the government next ask nuns to disrobe? And the world is trying to be more tolerant of others’ cultures, more open to others’ religions and beliefs.
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON ARROGANCE, IGNORANCE AND FEAR.
All of us in this household are simply too upset to blog today.
Mama has decided to try to speak to every Muslim woman she sees in headscarf or burka and ask what the woman’s opinion is of this attempt at making a law to ban her choice of clothing. She started with a woman from Morocco who lives in France and who says there is no problem in Morocco. And asked why there should be one here. A good question.
But the sadness and tragedy of Amatrice comes first, above all.
Chère Loulou and Famille – this is nothing but a stupid knee-jerk reaction to the massacre on the Cote d’Azur in Nice. Instead of attacking the cause of the hate and doing a better job of monitoring known extremists and the mentally unstable, they attack women on the beach!? Duuuuh. It’s just going to create more anger and division when we need unity and cooperation. I’m hoping this afternoon’s ruling will settle this dangerous silliness – assuming they rule to STOP banning the burkini!!!! If they continue to allow the ban, heaven knows what we’re in for!!!!
Oh, MYA, you are one smart doggy. And yes, if these things get passed, you and I may have to go out and get CLOTHES FOR ALL SEASONS so that our parts don’t show. OMG!!!
exactly… we have other problems to solve than what to wear where… but this is typical for hollande, bread and circusses instead looking at the really essential things… I bet a lot of people here count the days till april 23 in 2017… :o(
Oh, I’m sure they are counting. We are, too. But of course, then who will be in power next? Oh, boy…
Mom saw this on the news tonight and can’t even wrap her mind around it. Outrageous and inexcusable! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
I am so sorry for those poor women anthros who are abused this way. It is like putting people in prison for just thinking a thought the powerful don’t like!!!
остановить что-нибудь говорил позор Франции позор Франции позор Франции
I saw this on the news. How ridiculous that having too many clothes on is an issue.
Really. And there are many who really would rather cover up but don’t know how exactly. Perhaps burkinis for everyone when needed?
Gott segne dich
And god bless you, too.
From what we read about the incident, the woman voluntarily took off her top to show she had bathing attire on underneath. Seems like the burkini has tempers flaring on both sides. 🙁
I don’t know where you read that but she was TOLD to remove her top and what she has on underneath is none of THEIR affair!!! Did they take off their pants to show they had on underwear?
