Hey, I can practice, can’t I? Maybe I’ll be in the next World Cup.
Well, mama says it’s really fun being out in the streets during the World Cup, the games shown on every TV in every bar or pub in Roma, and when Mexico beat Germany, mama and papa ran into a sweet crowd of young Mexicans singing victory songs and everyone yelled VIVA, MEXICO and more. It’s like a big party in the streets of Rome in summer. Even if you don’t know anyone, everyone has a sense of comradeship and sharing the lovely summer evenings. Doggies run in the piazza della Minerva (mama says there is a dog-walker there every evening with FOUR doggies all playing and chasing things and getting along) and little kids are on bicycles and tricycles and sometimes little kids play a bit of soccer, slamming their goals against the walls of the convent behind the famous Bernini elephant.

Uh, oh, Croatia has just scored against Argentina, team of the famous player, Messi, and I’m sure he’s not feeling all that good about this. When I watch soccer with mama and papa, I love watching him, and it’s one of the things I miss with them not here.
Boo hoo, I’m not watching the World Cup! Maybe I could record some of the games when my kitty sitter is asleep and watch them the next day.
But all alone! Oh, sadness.
Still, it would have been fun to see Mexico beat Germany. Together.
It’s not that I don’t like Germany, but I do love Mexico. And I’m so glad all those little kids will be with their parents again.
I think goalie will suit me just fine!

By the way, today, after the first day of summer yesterday, papa is going into a six-month funk as the days get shorter. Not literally, he is much happier after the winter one!
Y’know, Loulou, we’re not soccer fans…though they have the World Cup games on TV here every day.
Well, mama is a crazed weasel about soccer, maybe it’s an Italian thingy, but papa is even worse. Actually, he was the first and she followed…she’s pretty involved. Could it be their legs?
Ah the World Cup! Best way to connect with anybody 🙂
Well, mama and papa are fanatics, so you might be hearing a bit more about it from me if I get to watch. Iceland was pretty wonderful the other night.
I am testing my own blog.
Our youngest boy Sean played goalie when he played soccer. We will try to find out how to fix it so that you don’t have to fill in the information every time. We are going to have to ask someone. We notice you have the save name deal on your blog, do you know how you put it on there?
A good question! I think my guru did it in the settings section of my wordpress. Will ask and let you know. The Ernie and Wally site has it too.
Oh, it must be a wordpress thing. Blogger doesn’t seem to have anything we have been looking. Hopefully they will update soon.
I’ll send a how-to when I talk with my guru!
Papa was rooting for Iceland too, wasn’t he ? They celebrated when they tied Argentina !
I kind of agree with Papa about the Solstices – but at the Winter one it is still so long til warmth again.
Yes, but at the winter one, papa celebrates the very next morn!
Your papa LIKES the short days of winter????? Or do we misunderstand?
NO,NO, he loves that AFTER the winter solstice, the days start getting LONGER. Just a tiny bit, but what he doesn’t like is the shortening of days after the summmer solstice.
Yes, they were happy. Nice game.
