Well, mama wrote me that her beloved Rome has changed in places she thought would be the same forever. (Mistake No. 1, mama.)
But of course Rome is always Rome, full of incredible beauty, even if overrun by tourists, long lines outside little places to get a Sunday night pizza, the pizza itself often mediocre as many places now use commercial dough (yuk), more trash in the streets than before (tourists), and the weather for the whole month of May predicted to be mostly WET.
Still, I really loved this spark that I hope jolts mama and papa out of their wistful mode:
Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today. Will Rogers
Good advice, and you two are pretty good at looking around you and seeing the sweet Rome of your early days just waiting for you to embrace it.
For example…
Sometimes the past just needs a tune-up, mama, and think of the fun you’ll have figuring THAT one out, haha!
And speaking of that, Papa went out today to get new shock absorbers on our car.
Maybe mama and papa need to have those installed, too, haha.
Still, I really want THEM to have good times with the family, even if I wish THEY were back here to snuggle me after this long hiatus, whatever that is…sigh.
Remember me, papa?
No-one will ever forget you, especially not your Dad, your to special for him and your mom and to us too, sweet LouLou💗 Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day🐾😽💞
Well, crossed paws for that. And yes, I do think I have made an impression these last 12 years, haha.
Will Rogers was very wise. I’m sure your papa is missing you too, Loulou.
Mais oui, I know he does because I heard his voice on the phone and my ears went UP.
Oh no, Loulou that’s sad to hear. I love Rome. But, I really love that saying and think we should all apply it a little more.
Well, mama says that under all the changes, Rome is always Rome and she’s pretty good at seeing sweet things through the blur of tourism and old trattorie disappearing..
My Mom and Dad have lovely memories of Rome and Venice from the start of the honeymoon a million years ago (well…not quite a million). Things are constantly changing in our world and my Mom and Dad say they enjoy remembering those places the way they were. Such beauty as there is there should be preserved in more than our memories right? Anyway, I know you’re anxious to have them back home soon. They miss you too Loulou – I know they do!
Love, Teddy
Oh, they do, they do, and how lovely to have had the experience of the Venice that wasn’t yet sinking…and change is the one thing we can all be assured of, like it or not. Roll with the punches, mama says, adaptation to life is high on her list,
Shock absorbers all over the humanoids when they get a bit feeble in the mobility department wold help a lot…one of petcretary’s residents is SO confused, he keeps climbing out of his bed, and falling…he now has all kinds of bumps to his credit, but sheesh, shock absorbers and a helmet would surely help! NOT just for him…
That is a precious picture of you and your Papa…purrfect for the upcoming Father’s day!
And yes, lets not dwell on yesterday, its done, and we have more than enough dealing with today!
HAHA, that’s a very astute observation, and put them first in the knees, mama says.
Nice spark and beautiful photos. XO
Merci, Ms E. If only mama can make it work…
Rome has been called “The Eternal City” for a very long time, LouLou.
We enjoyed the pictures but especially wondered who the lady(statue) is with the pigeons perched all over her.
Mama is trying to remember where she was. I’ll ask papa, HIS brain is working well, haha.
Your photos look lovely, but it’s sad that things change and not for the better.
Well, so much to say on that, but we are scratching around for GOOD changes we can enjoy! Ond of which is that THEY will be home soon.
such a lovely photo of you an dee elevator
Merci, Gidget, I just hope he remembers who I AM.
Loulou, you are so wise!
Nothing stays the same, especially the size of my clothes!
HAHA, dat’s a goot one! But I’ll bet you look wonderful in anything!
Wonderful SPARK (mine Mommy is going to remember that one fur sure) … and she loves the idea of “shock absorbers” for hu-moms and says she could use those right now!
Loulou you are one smart kitty-girl.
OOH, merci Ms June. I love your name, so positive, as June is one of the most wonderful months of the year. And yes, we benefit so much by being HERE, TODAY.
