Do you ever get that feeling that you’ve lost your myow?
This morning, I tried to say something about breakfast, as in “WHERE is my breakfast and WHY is no one putting it in my dish?” And my poor little myow just wouldn’t work!
It came out sort of like meep, meep but mama knew what I wanted (as always) and so she condescended to put some sardine en gelée in my dish, but what would I do if I couldn’t let those anthros know what I need? So then I began thinking about the really nice man who came up to mama and papa while they were watching the bats in Texas and he gave them a button that he had made that said, “Keep Austin Batty”, which isn’t too hard because almost everyone there tries to keep it that way, but the cards said, “I am deaf and I make these buttons to support myself.”
So there was a man without speech, and without hearing, too, but with a really good sense of humor and doing whatever he could to make a living for himself.
Mama has a lovely friend, Nancy Cook Smith, who cannot hear but she speaks and speaks really well and weaves beautiful scarves and fabrics and so many wonderful things to wear. Mama put one of her scarves on me once and I looked pretty nifty! Mama has so many of her scarves that I’ll bet I could tie them together an climb out the window one night and roam around (which I am NOT permitted to do…but still…) but I don’t mess with them because they are too beautiful.
So I guess not having a myow is just one of those things that one works around and through which one discovers many avenues of creativity and makes new friends because of it and so if I don’t get my little voice back, I’ll think of another way to communicate to my anthros and other kitties. I know that I could learn paw language as many anthros do. The card given to mama by the nice button man had sign language on the back of it, and I think mama is trying to learn a little of it. And why not? But mama said that this man really communicated so beautifully with his eyes and with a big hug.
That’s about all the language anyone needs.
WOW, it came back!!!! Dinnnnnner……NOW!
I am so glad your voice came back Loulou. That scarf is lovely, looks perfect as a lovely background for a beautiful feline to sleep on!
