…and the grass has rize. Wonder where the birdies is.
My mama’s mama used to quote that in the spring and now mama quotes it to me. I don’t wonder at all where the birdies is because I don’t give a farthing, whatever that is, for birds and in fact, just the other day, I protected a little sparrow while he was bathing. Or she was bathing. Who can tell?
But mama came back from the nursery with Cat Grass and lemon thyme and seeds for San Marzano, Beefsteak, and Bull’s Horn tomatoes, but I also saw another one and knew why mama would buy that: Corazón. Mama is such a sucker for anything having to do with hearts or love or romance. I guess she bought those seeds to give papa heart-shaped tomatoes!
I also see some other weird stuff—animal fertilizer and rose food and oh, a real doozy, blood and bone meal. Mama asked papa to go find it at the nursery and he said, “Well, I’ll go try to find a good healthy subject.”
They are always kidding around.
I wish they’d just cool it for one minute and GIVE ME MY DINNER!
Meanwhile, I’ll just put my paw up for a minute…
And today, I wish to send so many hugs to Audra, who has lost one of her best friends, Lexi. But we are here, Audra, and we will be your companions always.
I am thinking of you, Audra, and Sissy and Dezi.
Spring has sprung, the grass has rize, I wonder where the birdies is, is something we used to say when I was a bit younger growing up in Wisconsin when it was often cold late into the spring. We aren’t wondering about the birdies this year since it stayed warm here in Pennsylvania so much of the time that some of them forgot all about going south. It was very very sad that Lexi had to go to the bridge but she will wait there for her momma.
I love hearing that others said the same things in childhood…so interesting. And mama is from Texas! A long way from Wisconsin. Yes, Audra is very sad. Lexi’s mama.
Very sad about Lexi. We grow San Marzanos, they are so good. I couldn’t get onto your blog last night- sorry I am so late.
Oh, I wonder if WordPress was fooling around with its website? Sorry you couldn’t get on…hope it works now.
We’re glad she got some cat grass for you.
Yeah, but, well, I thought it was going to be like that stuff anthros call grass…haha. Just kidding, I have my nip and I’m fine with that.
We always hate to know someone has lost a beloved furry. 🙁
Yes, and there seem to be too many this week…
