Do I smell brown sugar…? Whatever that is.
Well, that’s a phrase that papa’s mama (my grandmere) originated, which we have adopted into our house language, and if ever there were tempty baits in this house, it is TODAY.
Mama made a tarte tatin, all caramelized around the edges and just waiting to be turned upside down on the serving plate, and although I am not a very serious apple eater, I can see myself licking that apple caramel off of mama’s fingers and quite easily becoming a convert! Hey, an apple a day, right? Whatever that means.
Then mama had to go and make fresh scallop mousses (!) with just a hint of tangerine zest, which she turned out on the huge nasturtium leaves that burst out splendidly in our winter garden. I mentioned in another blog that the leaves of nasturtiums have subtle hint of capers, which gives the little mousses, meeses? a lovely fresh taste along with the fresh coriander beurre blanc that she spoons over each. Drool, drool, I think I should get off the couch…
So, as you can see, these cooking smells are driving me bananas. Which reminds me, I’m waiting for my new ‘Nana in the mail and maybe that will take my mind off of these buttery, sugary, cinnamony odors wafting through MY house.
I wonder if mama could make a mouse mousse for me? Are they in the frozen section in supermarkets?
Hmmm…may be time for a little winter hunt, haha.
Is this a hunt pose or WHAT?
Merci for the ping ping.
Okay LouLou, don’t laff, but mommy says she’s gonna be buyin’ us a couple mouseys and even some chicks to eat. She says sure ’nuff, they come pre furozen and ready to thaw and eat. Ya’ll might wanna check out hare today dot com. You just might be havin’ a mousey meal in no time. Big hugs
Luv ya’

OMG…that is incredible! Not sure mama can handle that one…what an idea. Where do they GET them.
Wow! I’ll bet if a mouse mousse could be made – your mama would be the one to do it and it would be Michelin-star worthy. Well, she would have to call it something else maybe….. but it does have a catchy name! Maybe you could get her to make some RATatouille? Substituting maybe the eggplant for you-know-what? Wow – I’ll bet you and I could really cook up some stuff, but we would probably eat all the ingredients before they got into the oven. So scrap that idea.
Would we ‘off’ them first? HAHA. LOVE rat-atouille!!! You are so clever and I’ll bet you wail in the kitchen!
Your humans sure eat well, Loulou. We think it’s only fair that you get that mouse mousse you want.
Mama says I have to provide ingredients… uh, oh.
Oh, that carmelized brown sugar sounds yummy, even though Jan has a respiratory something. Jan wants to know if she can lick the plate?
Oh, Jan, we are so sorry about your respiratory thingy. Mama had one, too. AWFUL. See a doc, okay?
I just opened your link to Kitchen Kitty and the recipes look delicious! Maybe you can add a few more? I will be requesting a copy of your mama’s cookbook for my Mommy’s Birthday.
Luvz, Patzy
Well, mama has over 5000 recipes from her POSSIBLE new book…she’s been working on that one for several years. But I can put in requests, Patzy!
That sounds yummy ! Purrs
Mama loves cooking yummies.
We love ‘sturtiums ! But mostly to look at.
THey attract hummingbirds too !
Our hummingbirds are weird…1-inch long and they look like an insect but they are actually tiny hummers. Not like the long-beaked ones in California where mama lived, but very cute.
I’m sure a mouse mousse is not in your future. Go on a mouse hunt and work off the calories up front!
Yes, I think you’re right. I HAVE to exercise without payoff.
