We don’t have fresh raw meat in our fridge?  Who’s in charge around here?

Well, it’s that time again around here.  Maybe the warm winds like Baja started mama thinking about fish tacos and corn tortillas (which she had just put in the freezer for a Tex Mex day), but the only drawback was that she had no cabbage, no honest-to-goodness hot sauce, no really good fish (it’s frozen around here still–no fish market and I’m certainly not going out there with a pole!), no Jack cheese or Cotija, the real McCoy, no sour cream, no sriracha, that fermented jalapeño and serrano chile sauce, BUT she had ONE ripe avocado and that cinched it.

Still, it’s disturbing not to have all the Mexican ingredients that mama had so readily in Los Angeles.  And the shop here that carries imported things is closed.  Hey, around here it’s innovate, create, and oust the irate, haha.

SO, the bottom line here is that I got some of the frozen fish before it became a taco, and I was pretty happy.  Mama did it very simply in a little butter and boy, that was a treat.  You see, she has been reading Jackson Galaxy‘s book and I’m supposed to have fresh raw meat just like my ancestors, but I don’t see any around this house.  Sigh…

Still, fish is a dish.
