(Don’t even think of coming back here and expecting love and affection!)
Well, mama sent an email the other day, waxing poetic, what ever that is, about the food in Texas. Can you believe that? I thought everyone just ate barbeque ribs and baked beans and grits (whatever they are—mama knows; she makes cheese grits that I love to smell when they’re cooking and then she gives me a tiny bit on my dinner plate and I’m in Texas heaven) and drank Shiner beer (one of the best of about 300, mama says, that new brewers are coming up with). But now she writes that she and papa have eaten the best oysters of their lives from Washington and Oregon at a place called Perla; confit of duck (!) tacos with black bean purée and guacamole at South Congress Café; really good sushi (no, not that OTHER kitty no longer with us) at a Korean sushi bar right next door to their hotel, and then crab cakes, deep-fried venison ribs and tilapia with lemon sauce at The Antler Grill in Hunt, Texas where mama’s brother and sister-in-law live.
I think they’re doing okay.
I think they’re having too much fun WITHOUT ME.
I think they’re even cootchi-cooing that wild kitty named Barny who eats outside mama’s brother’s door, and she’s a GIRL kitty. Then I found out that she’s called “Barny”, not “Barney” or “Barnie” because she was found in a barn. Mystery solved. But still…..she’s cute. That’s always dangerous where kitties are concerned but the good thing is that she won’t let an anthro near her!!! Smart kitty, maybe. I hope she nips mama….
So, I’m going to write mama more emails about how much fun I’m having HERE and all the good things I’m eating that Sue gives ME and how she snuggles and CUDDLES me all the time and then I’m going to write about how I don’t even think about her and papa AT ALL and I wouldn’t even be writing about how THEY ARE NOT HERE except that I couldn’t let my public down.
So there.
