My new svelte bod…6 kilos and holding. FINALLY, but hey, was I really such a ciccia-bomba? (Okay, okay, plump)
Well, I was drinking a good bit of water but now it seems to have tapered off. I think that’s something to be thankful for, that and a new insulin and zapper that looks like a fountain pen, whatever that is. And I think drinking enough water helped me slim down a bit…they say that’s important!
But seriously, folks, we are SO thankful today for these hearings concerning January 6 and the illegal raid in an attempt to overturn a legal election, and thankful for the Republican witnesses who came forward with truth and courage, and I am thankful for the concern about my health from kind commenters, and I also pretty thankful for…well…I just have to admit it: DUCK FAT.
And I am thankful for my papa who is documenting this whole insulin jab/diet change/pee monitoring thang! What a guy!
So, today, thank you all for your friendship.
Mama is baking our weekly focaccia. Wish I could send each of you a little taste!

Mama says you can make them so easily! She will send the recipe from her book…little kids made it all the time in classes she taught.
Loulou, how do you get your duck fat? Just plain in a dish or mixed with your food? ~Ernie
Just a smidgeon (unfortunately) mixed in with food but not too mixed or I don’t see it.And it’s from confit of duck that has not been cooked in anything but fat and salt, no onions or seasonings. A lady here specializes in ducks and confit and more, but all duck.

Your folks are so good to you. I am glad you are doing better. I wish I could try that bread. I have tried to make it with your mama’s recipe , but mine never looks that good and I am sure hers tastes better. XO
Oh, she is happy to help you with the recipe and baking. Maybe let her know what you do. All it is is flour, water, yeast, and salt mixed ONLY until it is a wet dough that pulls away from the sides of the mixing bowl. Then you do NOTHING. Heat the oven to max. Let the dough rise. Then you POUR it out, using a scraper, onto a oiled baking pan keeping all the air in the dough. Then you PULL a few holes in it, sprinkle with fresh rosemary and gross salt and bake for 10 minutes or so until golden. Open to questions.

Where do you get duck fat ? Is it really fat from ducks, or is that just the name of the product ?
It is fat from the confit of duck that a woman in the neighborhood makes as she has a duck farm. But I think you can get it on amazon! Or ask at your supermarket.

Ha ha, was the dippy good? Mama’s bread is good in olive oil but her sisinlaw’s partner puts peanut butter on it for breakfast!

Well, duck fat ROCKS if you want to doll up your meds and not taste them or if you want to enhance your regular food or if you are a finicky eater. As for anthros, there is less cholesteral in cooking potatoes, say, in duck fat instead of butter. Also more flavor.
