Well, I think old Beaphar has won over the other homeopathic calmers because I actually did change my behavior after mama rubbed a few drops between my little ears. Or at least I made them THINK I did….
You see, the thing is, THEY planned to take me on little try-out trips before this next big one, but they really didn’t follow up because of too many reasons to go into here—guests, chores, work, garden clean-ups, you name it, and frankly, I don’t go jump gaily into the back seat with anticipation of a nice long vroom, vroom ride in whatever that thing is they travel in that starts and stops and makes my tummy weird, so I guess I can’t blame them.
But yes, short trips would have helped, I think.
Still—tomorrow we’re going to the fish market, they tell me, so I will attempt to tolerate that for 10 miniutes or so (it’s nearby) and then probably howl like a banshee, haha.
More on this ordeal later…I do have a taller traveling apartment so at least I can stand up and throw up instead of sitting down, HAHA!
MOL Oh LouLou, are you really gonna hurl in your travel bag? Yes, short trips or any trips fur that matter would get you more accustomed to travelin’ in general. We hope you have fun on your adventure. Big hugs
Luv ya’

Well, we’re going out today for another short jaunt and then sit in the car for a few minutes and maybe I’ll get a little nibble of something good. Then we’ll get OUT in case it comes UP, haha.
I won’t lose it in the travel cage if I don’t eat ANYTHING for 12 hours before we leave….boy, do I get the tummy growls. But mama puts all sorts of paper towels in my little space and I am careful to spit up on those. Then I’m happier.
We are glad they found something that helps.
Oh boy, the fish market!
Have a wonderful weekend…

Well they didn’t take me after all. We just sat and sort of bonded with my carrier, haha.
Cats don’t have the neurological structures through which some humans process motion sickness, so why *do* their reactions to riding in cars vary so much? Black Magic and Iris positively loved visiting friends and riding in a car. Dusty wasn’t attracted to cars but knew that, if she wasn’t in a travel cage, she needed to sit quietly under the seat and all would be well. Pell complained bitterly when travelling away from home and expressed pleasure when heading back toward home. And Mackerel seemed to mind being taken to and from the vet more than he minded getting rabies shots or being kept indoors.
(Part of it may have been the idea of being transported in a cage. Mac was born feral and would go into a cage as a special favor if I asked him nicely, but wanted everyone to know that putting him anywhere without his explicit consent would be long and deeply regretted yarrayarrayarr!)
Oh, such good examples of kitty reactions! We’ll see how I feel after a week of short, short travel around the block and THEN to the fish store…haha.
A short trip to the fish market is a great idea,LouLou. Sort of the Carrot & Stick approach adapted for felines ! Hope you get some anchovies out of it !
Well, Mary. They put me in the car in my NEW tall traveling case and I meowed a bit and they chatted and sat with me for about 15 minutes and I stopped myowing and then we all went inside and had treats. Well, I had treats. I think they mentioned something about “tomorrow le’s do the same thing…” so I think I”m being roped into something …
NOT 156 MINUTES!!! Typo.
