YOU MISSED PUPPETS? Are you NUTS?
Oh, mama is such a stick-in-the-mud, or sand, as the case may be here…
Last night on our beaches (there are three) there were Catalan boats coming in from out at sea and on the decks, there were double lifesize dancing puppets all in white and manipulated by anthros behind them, and where were mama and papa? They were watching Black Mirror, an episode with its own puppet that was a celebrity rock star plastic doll who had a mind of its own. I won’t get into this…
Frankly, I was bored stiff and had MUCH more fun watching our neighbor’s yard and all the wildlife that comes out after dark – birdies, kitties, maybe even a couple of worms or two living it up in the vegetable garden! Whatever is there, I’m in its thrall, whatever that means.
But tonight THEY are going down to the beach to watch the spectacular fireworks for the celebration of St. Vincent. Part of his body actually came in today on a lateen-rigged boat and was placed in our little golden-altered eglise (church). And I think that, with today’s fête, the summer is officially over. But tonight in our part of town, there will be music, food, dancing and feu d’artifice (fireworks).
BUT NOT FOR MAMA! No way, no how. She is going to wring every breath out of what’s left of August and have FUN! The weather is spectacular, we actually harvested 9 tomatoes (!) this summer, and the roses are struggling to put out a second bloom. What’s not to like?
And maybe, just maybe, the donkeys will come up the street tomorrow morning and eat the carrots and apples that mama has saved for them.
Lots of action (for some) around here, haha. Life is good.
We don’t blame your mama for wanting to enjoy the rest of summer. It’s so short. We hope your peeps have fun.
Well, they have margaritas in the freezer at least…and fun with ME!
Wow – I would have loved to have been there – watching from afar, since fireworks make so much NOISE! They were booming here last night (but we were safely in the apartment). but Mama misses those Catalan boats and the beautiful port of Collioure. Sigh. Enjoy August – fall will be here before we know it and festivities everywhere slow down…..fete = food. Right?
Yes, and fall = …er…what does it =? More food?
LOL – FALL – that’s when the food hits the ground and mama calls “Hoover” !
HAHAHA… dat ees a gout one!
That sounds like quite a celebration.
60,000 people or maybe more…
Yes, LouLou – I know Mama’s feelings. It is the Ides of August, yet many schools have started,a big Halloween store has opened in an empty storefront in a local mall, the TV ads are announcing Labor Day sales…
Halloween? Holy tamale… it’s all $$$$$$
