(New York Daily News–thank you)
Well, here’s a story: Mama wrote me that at Ikea in Texas, she got in the wrong line for checkout (oh, boy!) and it was for under 10 items and she had…well…about 50, and so she started packing up the stuff, feeling terrible for the long line at the register, but she’s pretty fast, and then this woman appeared, very matter-of-fact and efficient, and started packing with lightning speed, smiling all the while and saying, ‘These things happen to all of us; I’m just helping out—we’ll be done in a second.”
Well, mama was floored and the three of them were, indeed, finished in minutes and mama went to find this nice woman something in the food department but there were lines of people and so she went to the woman and said, “Please give me your name; I’ll find you because I’d like to thank you properly”, but the woman said, “Oh, I’m a soldier at Ft. Hood and it won’t be easy to find me.”
Mama tried Ft.Hood the next day, but the information people won’t give out info without the soldier’s social security number. A dead end.
So mama said to the secretary at Ft.Hood, “Well, if you run across a Jamie Gilmore, you will have met one of your best soldiers!”
And if any of you kitty bloggers or other bloggers know a soldier at Ft.Hood with that name, please leave a comment so that mama can say thank you to her again.
I love comments, but I don’t get very many.
I’d love to hear your stories about kindness and good deeds.
After all, I did a good deed when I sidled up to mama and papa’s kitchen door and adopted them as my anthros!
Those lucky devils…
What a good soldier. There might be cat bloggers on the CB who know this soldier, you could send an email or leave a comment on the daily links page asking?
My good deed for the day was catching a small frog, not injuring it and bringing it in for the apes, so they could admire it, admire me, then take it back out to the garden, frankly they need the exercise, but they did appreciate the frog. It tasted ghastly, but hey, I did it for them hehe
Luff Mungo
Mungo, you are such a good kitty to leave the frog unharmed…and yes….YUCK on frog tacos!!!
