I not only lost my place, I lost my BOOK!
Well, mama is deep into Delia Ephron and her books, starting with Syracusa and last night, finishing off Sister, Mother, Husband, Dog, which is probably the best memoire mama has read for honesty and clarity and humor. Humor, of course, as Delia was known for that, along with Nora, now dead, alas.
And just for fun, mama’s throws in a bit of Andrea Camilleri, whose titles like The Snack Thief, The Shape of Water, and Angelica’s Smile just cry out to be read, no?
I read over mama’s shoulder. And in doing that, I saw that Delia Ephron is a doggy-lover and I was about to walk away and find my bookmark in The Cat Who Could Read Backwards or Warriors, but I caught sight of Delia’s line about not understanding cats herself but she certainly was fine with those who love them. Or something sort of like that. And I thought, understanding? Do you really think you can understand ME? Or any kitty for that matter? You may think you are grasping the nature of us felines, and you may pat yourselves on the back when you figure out just what our tails in various positions mean but guess what? YOU ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE. Sorry about that. One does need a boost to self-esteem at times but just don’t predicate it on a kitty, haha.
Heh, heh, you think you know me? Think again.
Any book titles you wish to pass on? Mama is champing at the bit because she is about to finish a Camilleri tonight and she will go bonkers, I can assure you of that. Without a book, she is a nutcake!
I know a lot of you read, so thank you for anything you come up with.
Right now, I’m reading the inside of my eyelids…

Just had to put this in as it is charming and a sweet video about a doggy who rescued a hummingbird!!!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Anne Hassett, our friend of many, many years and may she have many, many more.
Perhaps your mom could read the inside of her eyelids too, at least until she finds an unread book?
AHHH, yes, she and papa read the insides of their eyelids every night way too early for me…But she has found The Sympathizer, Pulitzer winner this year.
Happy Birthday to your friend. I think I would enjoy Delia Ephron’s book, I love memoirs.
Yes, I think you will like her straightforward and often funny writing. But when she is serious, she is very good, also.
Loulou, we love that hummingbird story. Thank you for sharing. We also enjoyed your super cute photos today. Mom read a really good cat book not too long ago. She’ll get the name and send it to you! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Thank you. Wasn’t that amazing? I wish we HAD hummers around here. We only have tiny little things that look like moths but they are actually tiny birds, no bigger than your nail. Amazing. No long beaks like the hummers in California, mama says. She had feeders and they came all the time. So darling.
