Hey, is this thing waterproof?

Oh, boy is this a hot one!!!! I was looking over mama’s shoulder at the (what else?) New York Times, and there was this TURTLE with a camera on its little shell and what he does is walk around a Michigan pet shop surveying the scene for what some not-so-honest clients might slip into their pockets or simply taking pictures of what goes on all day in the shop! Is that amazing? And just imagine what a turtle can do for underwater photography…whoa!

And these miniature cameras are being used more and more often as surveillance for shops, large areas difficult to see into, home security and more.  In short, the general public is using surveillance just as the government uses surveillance methods to check in on us.  Seems fair.

But what was really disturbing to me was that now these little items also TALK, and a mother anthro who is not at home, having left the kids with a sitter, can see her kids with her little camera and can say, “Hey, kids, I don’t want you getting into those cookies before dinner!”  And they hear her! But papa points out that if a kid can count on his camera/mama to correct him, then how will he learn to correct himself through his own sense of responsibility.  I, for one, am for letting kids make mistakes so that they can learn from them and understand why this or that action doesn’t or does work for him/her. But with a Big Brother surveillance all day long, uh oh…

Now, mama wonders just how far will this trend go? If every moment of one’s day is monitored and often can be shown on the internet or a blog, just how much privacy will be left to anyone?  And mama loves her privacy, you can bet your paws.

Then again, some people are using them on their dashboards to monitor behavior (or mis-behavior) of public civil servants—the police, for example, or the highway patrol.

Hmmm…I just don’t know about this.  If mama and papa put a camera on some dingbat turtle who clumps around this house trying to catch me at an indescretion, I’m going to have something to say about it, you can be sure of that.

Well, you can bet that I’LL be keeping a close eye on that chunk of shell and its pertrubing paddle feet!  And I’ll be out of its way before the shutter snaps!

Hey, maybe they’ll be putting a little kitty-camera on me soon.

Oh, boy, will I be getting some good pics!

Hey, wait a minute! I’m taking YOUR picture, Pietro!
