…there be dragons…
Well, there is no sun today here in Rome, that’s for sure. Plus mama couldn’t go to her grandson’s soccer match because it’s too cold and she is still battling the residual cough. Thanks for peppermint oil idea, Dezi.
But enough of this oh, poor me, mama–it is supposed to be beautiful all week and there are so many lovely things to do, not the least of which is see the holiday lights all over the city. I, of course, am excluded from that tour, but mama read a very good article about teaching your kitties to embrace a leash early on. I mean, can’t you just see me tripping down the via Condotti in all my feline finery?
I can’t! Yet. I think a kitty has to get used to those big metal things that whiz by and squawk, not to mention all those STRANGE anthros crowding around (to see the Tuxie on a leash, haha) and the NOISE of so many things I don’t understand like giant white soaring birds who make a tremendous racket each morning.
So, let’s face it. I am a house kitty, it seems, except when I have my beloved garden. Still, in winter, the best place for me is a snoozy duvet on a suitcase hidden under the bed. Heaven!
But wait–you say there is a fish market that throws tidbits to the kitties?
Maybe one day I’ll face the learning curve, whatever that is, and take my first stroll. Where is that market again?
What is that strappy-looking thing in your hand, mama? Argggggh…
Oh LouLou, we think you’d luv to go fur walks. Ya’ll have so many tasty meowkets to see and taste from. MOL Your mommy could always get you a stroller so you wouldn’t have to do any of the walkin’. You could just sit in your stroller and taste all the goodies. Big hugs
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
It is getting me IN the stroller that worries mama.
Honestly, Loulou, we don’t think you’re missing a thing. Stay inside where your safe and warm.
I think you are right! Home by the hearth.
Loulou, maybe a stroller is the key thing for you. I have one and I think you’d like it. It would give you a lil’ bit of security if you decided to venture to the fishy market. And you could just sit back and watch as your momma strolled you along the aisles as your chauffeur. And if you didn’t want handled by all the strange peeps, you could just have your momma lower the hood. Tee hee hee.
Well, I hope you can teach an old kitty new tricks. Not that I’m old, mind you, but let us say, I am set in my ways. Mama should have THOUGHT of this years ago….darn. But I’m still going to try.
teehee – Loulou, are you going to be walked to the fish market? Well, I got left behind yesterday when Mama and Papa went to the opera (a show-tune thing, not a real opera) and the wind was so strong, they passed a tree blown across the road – and then read flying metal pieces from the Christmas Village injured 5 people!! Geez – if it’s not the yellow vests, it’s heavy metal Christmas music! Today – grocery buying and dining in Italy. More my style. BUT when we come to Collioure – you must try the poussette!! Enclosed if you like – and it rolls!
Will I need seasick pills…I think so. But oh, to be in a pousette with you, Mya…no one will believe it. Odd bedfellows…er…femmes.
Don’t worry, Loulou. We’re sure your mama and papa will throw you some you some tidbits in your own kitchen.
Hey, it’s throw to the dogs, and here it’s watch out for that kitty!
Loulou, you can always try strollering! You can feel safely protected and just ride along to look at all the sites. I think it is fun when the weather is nice. I even sometimes go out in a light mist of rain if it’s warm enough. Mommy just covers the top of the stroller with a towel so I can still see out and puts on a hat and her raincoat with hood and off we go.
But not today! It is raining and 36F. That cccold rain stings when it hits you!
Luvz, Patzy
Oh, Patzy, you are another stroller kitty and so lucky. I wish they had started with me long ago but I’m going to try when Mya comes one day because her sroller is big. And I’m, er, not a kitten any longer.
I think a snooze in cold weather is a very sensible idea, LouLou.
Maybe you could ride in a stroller as Mya does, so you could feel a bit safer from all the goings on. There are a couple of blogs that feature Tuxies who go out and about (Chanel of Random Felines and Cuocake if Cats Herd You.) Kitty Cat Chronicles follows the adventures of several kitties who go out and about, including Sophie, a lovely little calico who is a CH kitty.
Well, I’m headed for stroller reseach. And what is a CH kitty? I’m terrible with initials, must be genetic—so is mama.
CH is cerebellar hypoplasia – a kitten is born with their brain not fully developed and they have trouble walking. Many of them get better as they age, and it is not an active disease so they do not get worse. The kitties don’t “know” anything is wrong so they are just as delightful as a “normal” kitty.

Oh, yes, we have read about that and thank you for the websites. So sweet, those little kitties.
Yes, what was that scrappy thing? Anyways, maybe you could get a stroller of your own and be pushed by your staff, like a princess would be chauffeured in her Rolls Royce. That way you get the comforts of home and the smells but not the feet of Rome! And maybe mama could buy you some fish to nibble on for the trip home…
Toodlepips and purrs
ERin
My goodness, it’s stroller season around here, that’s for sure…five anthros have suggested that I roll through life! But…wait a minute—you have to get me IN it first, no?
