Condolences for all of the inhabitants of the Funny Farm, especially Jan, whose beloved Sam passed away this week. A loving and lovely companion, he will be missed so very much. The animals at the Funny Farm are so dear to me, and I almost believe that we have known one another in another life, perhaps one of my nine! But Sam was a darling and we are all sad for Jan right now. Perhaps Marcus can give her some solace, but I think he is grieving, too, today.

On another subject, a friend of mama sent this to her and it’s about the funniest New Year’s wish I have seen. I just hope it comes across the way it did on our email! Here goes:

Thank you, dear Loulou, for remembering Sam. We miss him!
We don’t get the joke, though. We must be missing something.
What joke is that? The polar bear thingy? Have to go look for a joke. I really am so sorry about Sam but he had 9 good years. That’s a plus.
Very sad about Sam. There has been too much sadness in The Blogosphere lately.
Yes, it’s true and so many still trying to get well or recover from other events. Sam was 9 years old so he had some good years.
