Listen or not.
25 minutes to realize what is happening to YOURj country, to YOUR salaries, to YOUR rights, to YOUR children, to SENIORS everywhere, to your Social Security, to your freedom, and please, please go to the end.
You will be overwhelmed and amazed with what we have done in the past to preserve our freedom and constitution, and what WE can do NOW to save our country from oligarchs.
It’s very hard. I do hope all I’ve put into Social Security, and because I’m self employed I pay both sides of it, was not for nothing.
There are many articles on what he is doing with SS. Very threatening.
We care….our hearts are heavy….we will continue to make the best of things as that is our way – we never counted on SS but worked hard in our careers, saved all we could, invested as wisely as possible and still we watch the crumbling world. None of this can take away our hope – we will always have that.
Love, Pam
You are both so courageous in many ways and we all have to have hope. Never to be abandoned. But someone, something has to stop these creatures who are not even elected officially, MUSK, and who is ruining our government, firing qualified employees and replacing them with 20-year-olds who could possibly have access, as does the new SECURITY woman to all of our nuclear secrets, plans and objectives. Incompetents have been placed in top positions to plan our country’s future and when he changes the constitution there will, I hope, be a backlash to stop him.
…age. Maybe we should keep the idea of retiring from jobs we did only for the money into jobs we do for fun but not for free. But there does happen to be a correlation between enjoying the last third of life and continuing to do some sort of work during it. So, no “retirement” for me. I’ll work until disabled.
And that’s a wonderful way to grow older, by giving of yourself and for just the sheer pleasure of it. Mama is on the same page with you!
Bernie is lovable but not realistic. Social Security always was a Ponzi scheme. I’m now old enough to say that I don’t want to “retire” on SS. There’s still enough money left to provide pensions for people with disabilities, if baby-boomers just let go of the idea that the need to work has anything to do with age.
Well…maybe the need to work at jobs we didn’t like, in order to educate children, is a function of
He spoke only of the realistic progress that we, as a democracy. made HAPPEN. Women’s right are threatened, people of color are being uprooted from their families and sent to countries that persecute them, cultural funds are being cancelled, and incompetents are running our country. These are facts. Believe them or not. Too many believed that a bully, womanizer, racist could run our democracy with ethical decisions that keep our country free and welcoming and ingaged with the rest of our allies. Pulling out of NATO and the World Healthy Organization are the most dangerous acts he is promising. And to be in bed with Putin is self-destruction.
I know this is not going to be popular–a crucial mass of people are probably incapable of reaching the conclusion I reach–but Social Security always was a Ponzi scheme. I paid in some, long ago, and was glad it was there FOR MY PARENTS. I never imagined it would be there for me. I’ve not planned to “retire” as a ward of the state, and still don’t. The only way out of the inevitable collapse of the SS pyramid is for baby-boomers to agree that eligibility starts with major disability. As long as we can earn our own livings, we should. We can’t keep the population growing forever. We can find work we *like* doing and use it to fund a frugal semi-retired, or less intensely active, sort of old age. We can keep the idea of retirement from jobs we never enjoyed but did to educate the children…into jobs we do mostly for fun, but not free of charge.
Well, I’m game, whether anyone else is or not..
Of course I had the advantage of growing up with parents who explained to me when I was eight or ten years old, repeatedly, why Social Security could not possibly be there for me to retire on. They were surprised they were able to retire on SS. I was glad that they were. But I never expected to, and as I reach SS age I find I don’t want to, retire on SS. Uncle Sam should give the money to someone who’s paralyzed. I could use a lot more money but I like being a writer.
We never imagined that SS would pay for retirement, but it is a little padding for when some elderly people cannot find work that they ‘like’or are laid off because of age, etc. Now you can address the demise of Medicare, funds for improving education, funds for the disabled other handicapped individuals, research for curing major diseases, the dimise of the cultural events at Kennedy Center, and I could list many, many more areas that are being headed by incompetent people who haven’t a clue of how to run our security systems, our Treasury, our nuclear information center, etc etc etc etc….and we commend you for working so long and well at such a wonderful vocation. But you may notice in the near future that the price of your groceries is going to skyrocket.

I will check it out. XO
Merci, Ms E but you never have to, as you know. Strange times….thank heaven for bloggers/new friends.
God bless Bernie Sanders.
But few are listening…and now KENNEDY RUNNING OUR HEALTH SYSTEM. Read about him family member, Rory Kennedy. Unbeliveable that he can even run for an office.
As I often watch C-Span had already seen amazing Bernie’s speech, but thank you for sharing his important words. Am afraid far too few are paying attention. The many who chose to vote (R) and will soon wake up to what that choice really meant, and those who chose NOT to vote at all. Shame on both groups who brought this disaster down upon all of us. Will we get through it? That is yet to be seen. But even if we do manage to survive it will not be without great harm to so very many, considerable permanent damage to many and a destruction of our great institutions that will require years of rebuilding.
Merci for your wise words, and merci for joining the resistance. You have many followers. Perhaps they will listen to you, knowing your wisdom in so many areas.
