Okay, listen up, kitties and anthros: today is National French Bread Day, can you believe that? Papa says we have a day for so many things that we really should just have a National Everything Day, do it once, and leave it at that.
So today I’m putting on some pics of nice French breads that we love.
Fougasse – this is the bread that inspired mama to start a bakery long ago.
This bread dough can be formed into any shape you like, including flatter and thinner for pizza or put in a loaf pan for slicing. I get a few drops of the olive oil mama uses on the top before baking.
And these are the breads that mama and papa produced from their bakery in LA before they moved here and found ME…YAY! Mama still does some of them as we are not yet visiting the boulangerie in our neighborhood. But we WILL. Someday…
And the baguettes here in our little town are so, so good.
The only way I can celebrate National Bread Day is to…uh…try to be Well-Bred, haha.
Uh…
...not sure this was the best example, Ms Photographer/Helper! Sheesh…
How about this instead? A French female must always have her scarf to be elegant.
Those look so good! I would like to officially thank the French for their bread contributions to the world. I also want to thank France for croissants – can you imagine the world without croissants?! Shudder!
Oh, no, I cannot imagine that. Nor a world without pasta, mama adds.
Oh yum- now I must go bake some of my bread!
GOOD FOR YOU. Another baker in our midst.
Extremely well bred to wash before coming in to say hello
Ha ha we do love our washing ups.
The mom loves bread! And these look so good.
Funny how bread was the enemy when the gluten wars began…mama has some great stories about THAT! Hey, daily bread, right?
Oh yummy on all that delicious looking bread. I took some.
You are one beautiful lady cat too.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. ♥
Oh, yes, you are welcome to any foods we publish in pics! Wish we could do take out for everyone….
Oh what gorgeous bread!! My Mom watches “The Great British Baking Show” on TV and one of their assignments was to make fougasse. Fresh bread is “melt in the mouth” my Mom says. So far my Dad is an epic fail making bread but he is too impatient and doesn’t follow recipes like he should. Anyway, nothing smells better than FRESH BAKED BREAD! I also think the photo of you with your beautiful scarf is perfect.
Hugs, Teddy
GET THAT PAPA MAKING FOCACCIA. IT IS GUARANTEED by mama to be the best and easiest bread on earth.
That bread looks delicious, Loulou. And you look so chique in your colourful scarf. Enjoy National French Bread Day!
Oh, Miliza, we are so worried about the South Africa mutant covid and we hope so much you are safe and that there will be a vaccine for it. Please let us know.
Thank you for your concern, Loulou, but we are slowly getting vaccinated this side. It’s getting better every day.
Oh, we are so relieved. Thank you for telling us.
WOW – these breads look FABU – but we have found a bread that mamma is nutz over!!! It’s made by a bakery in the hood – and they slice it thin and it has raisins, dates and nuts in every bite!!! Not for me – but Mamma says it is deeelish!!!
We think we may know that bakery because when we were in Nice that month, we hit all the bakeries in the ‘hood, including yours. But lots of bakeries in France make that wonderful nutty, fruity bread. There’s a guy here in our ville who sells it but not as good as yours, I’m pretty sure.
This bakery just opened about 6 weeks ago on Rue de France – but may be the same bread! Mamma is NUTZ over this bread – especially toasted!
Not the same one if it just opened. We were there three years ago.
Oh! That looks like terrific bread! Our Mom makes jam. She made some Hascap and Lime 2 weeks ago that is really good and we had it on French bread for breakfast this morning! And Loulou, we lover you in your scarf! You are gorgeous! We hope all of you have a marvellous day!
WOW…what a good jam for our breads! Does your mom share recipes?
The bread looks good. And you look tres belle in your scarf. XO
OOH LA LA, merci, Ellen. They get sort of tangly sometimes…and mama tells me that French women have 20 ways to wear a neck scarf! More, I think…
We could almost smell those breads through the internet.
Well, wish they traveled well! Alas you would have a nice doorstop instead…
Dang, we didn’t know about this special day or our Dad would have baked up some French Bread too.
Well mama made three loaves and I will put them on my blog tomorrow. So good and crunchy. I love the smell, but don’t eat much bread myself.
