ARGHHHHH….here I go again.
I said, no more politics, but I do wish to note that a friend called mama to tell her that the Canadian website for emigrating crashed after the news!
I guess the Canadians had better gear up for more inhabitants.
(Num, num lots of maple syrup)
Now think about this: What if having a Republican SENATE, CONGRESS, SUPREME COURT, and PRESIDENCY really did not work out well for all Americans, who are under the illusion that they are living in a democratic country in which power is equalized for ALL by a little thing called Checks and Balances.
So if in two years, his cabinet does not work for the middle class, or for the blue collar workers who could have had new jobs building the infrastructure of our country that is falling apart, because progress on repairing the bridges, dams, roads (especially in the south) that sorely needed it was stopped by a Republican Congress, you can look to your House of Representatives to see if they can do better than the ones now in office. (Papa has really interesting views on all of this. Trump, as President, may be fighting more with his own party than THEY bargained for.) The only reason they said no to so many of the plans of President Obama is because Obama wanted them, no other reason. And now that their man is in the White House, they may actually go along with plans that may not be as dissimilar to Obama’s as they thought.
Trump says he now wishes to rebuild our infrastructure. So did Obama. Good. Let’s see that happen.
But unemployment in this country is at 4.9%, the lowest it has been in years. Let’s look at that figure in a couple of years.
Among other proposals for bettering our nation, such as controlling prices paid by our government to huge pharmaceutical companies so that savings could be passed down to YOU, Trump wants to fight. The pharmaceuticals shot up on the stock market 3% this morn.
I am not sure Mr. T is going to be thinking about YOU when he gives perks to the already rich or decides that we do not need to pay the bills of others in NATO, but we do have a heritage of helping others, no? Hey, what do I know…I’m just a cat.
This is what I photographed off of CNN world news, the biggest news agency on the planet.
Get rid of NAFTA and TPP. Poor Mexico.
Resist climate change deal. Are you kidding? Our planet is choking!
Tear up the Iran deal. So hard won but maybe he has a plan.
Renegotiate NATO.
Build a wall between us and our southern neighbors, Mexico.
Move in Tel Aviv the American embassy to Jerusalem. This may not happen, I hope. A two-state situation is best for all and always has been but Netanyahu fights it at every turn.
Keep Muslims out of America and get rid of many of the thousands who live there now, trying to make new lives for themselves.
And he is saying that no matter what color of skin you have or religion you believe in, he is going to have us all work together. Let’s see that one happen.
One thing is sure. Very, very interesting times are ahead.
I will not go on. This is all documented, but no one who voted for Trump cares a bit about documentation and even less for the truth because anger took over. So be it.
But some of the truth is that we all be very surprised by this turn of events and I don’t rule that out. If there is anything one can count on over and above anything else, it is change and that always brings a surprising future.
This new event, too, could change many minds. Or this new President could change and surprise us all.
So I said, no more politics, mama, and now I mean it. We all need a deserved rest from the last year, especially we kitties.
Passed out over Politics
Oh Loulou i am learning so much from your kitty point-of-view from across the sea, looking back to your Mama’s homeland.
I am so glad to give you any insights into anything, but from a kitty, some information is not always taken seriously. Thanks for reading my wanderings.
We are purring for our country, Loulou…it sure needs a lot of purrs right now.
We are all purring ALOT. And let’s keep at it.
There is one thing EVERYONE can agree on and that is that you are one adorable feline, Loulou. Kitties are my escape when humans suck … so thank you for being you 🙂
Oh, that is such a nice comment and message to remember. Yes, we are the ones who have to keep the faith.
Loulou, our Mom says we all better stock our liquor cabinets and learn to nap like we kitties ’cause it’s going to be a bumpy ride. You know what side of the election our humans came down on, and Mom feels as if she is in shock. She keeps hoping this is a dream, and she will wake up. Those thinking moving to Canada is a good idea need to remember that Canada is in No. America and if someone pushes the button and missiles and warheads come soaring toward the U.S., Canada is in the line of fire as well. Only time will tell what will happen to those of us who thought saner minds would prevail and our country would remain in the hands of those who would fight to keep us safe and control the factors leading to the climate change and global warming. Of course, that is just the tip of the melting glaciers. Loulou, please ask your humans to pray for America and ALL its residents. We’re going to need it. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
I like that first part…and I can teach mama how to nap better so she won’t think so much about this debaucle.
Well, Loulou – you and I are 100% french, but Maman who has American citizenship and family, therefore has a stake in the US. She agrees with EVERY word you wrote. And is especially worried about the cost of and access to medical care there. However – three cheers for the infrastructure initiative!! I could go on and on with the concerns, but will just close by saying nationalistic tendencies have been a recent trend everywhere – and we’re not safe from LePen over here!!! A year ago, who would have imagined Brexit? Or Trump? So what next?! My Tante Maria says this Chinese year of the monkey will be full of crazy stuff. So guess Maman had better stock up on kibbles!!! EEK!!!!
Yes, maybe even Chinese kibbles!!! But when everyone is feeling one way and that nothing is going to work out, it sometimes surprises us all. We kitties are circumspect about so many things. And even this melancholy event has exposed some truths that needed telling and addressing. Let’s see what unfolds.
You are such a cutie LouLou.
Oh, thank you. I sort of like to have these compliments but perhaps living with me would not be that easy. No, actually, it is really easy!!! I sleep a lot, eat on time and poo outdoors or on the john. What’s not to like?
Oh LouLou, ifin those “facts” were da truth. But mainstream media, ie: CNN, Fox and others are biased and in da pawckets of da clintons and others just like them. Trump voters didn’t vote fur Trump out of anger. Alright, maybe a few did, but not da majority. Da truth is out there, ya’ just have to look beyond mainstream media and biased news outlets to find it. Not sure where da 4% unemployment figger came from, but dat’s fur sure not true. Our Country has fallen while money, jobs, and so mahy other things have gone overseas. Welfare has risen exponentially durin’ da obama admin.. hillary is, was and always will be a criminal who belongs in purrison, not da White house. A lot of voters are and wer innerested in da facts, they just wanted them to actually be Facts. It is now time fur our Country to heal and unite. We shall continue to purray fur our Country, her leaders and da decisions they make. God Bless America, may we never furget what makes her great.
Now, dat’s way more than enuff. We’s gonna hush and say you look pawsitively gawjus. Big hugs fur all and a wonderful day.
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
We are all entitled to our personal views, but the employment figures are done by a huge group of very objective analysts who only want the actual figures of jobs begun and jobs lost and we have 4% unemployment which can be proved. The problem is that many of our manufacturing jobs have been lost to robots and to other ways of making goods and there are many workers who need re-training. Schools need to improve to train young people to find work. But mostly we need to get our kids into college without having them take out HUGE loans that they will never pay back. Colleges are too expensive. and that’s a fact. State universities are not as expensive as the big universities like Stanford, Harvard, Yale but they are not the best schools in the country for many reasons and we need to get the median income of families UP so that their kids can be educated to keep our country moving forward, and stronger.
What I see in Oregon is huge amounts of people who don’t want to work and therefore are not counted as unemployed. They are happy living on the streets because of their mental issues or drug issues or they are young adults who refuse to grow up.
What I also see is manufacturing companies, fishermen, warehouses, etc. not being able to find enough employees. This is very real. Our young people do not want to work or they can’t get jobs because they can’t pass their drug tests so they don’t even try.
I work for dealer of Manufactured Homes or what you would call Mobile Homes (not trailers or RV’s). They have a 9 month backlog of people who have homes on order because they can’t find enough employees. They have a whole second plant they can open but no-one wants to work. I have heard the same problem from all aspects of fields from Orchards to Fishermen in Alaska. There is a HUGE PROBLEM of entitlement with Americas youth. This is not a Republica or Democrat problem. It is a problem with the USA.
We have raised a bunch of spoiled brats who won’t work. I have a 24 year old that I cannot make him grow up and move out. I quit paying many bills like internet, cable, garbage and he still won’t get a job!
I worked since I was 14 or so and moved out the day after I turned 18. What gives? We cannot blame the democrats or the republicans for this. And quit listening to unemployment figures. Until you have 20 Tent Cities around you, you will not understand unemployment. All unemployment is counting is how many people are actually looking for a job. It has nothing to do with how many people are unemployed. Let’s get all Americans to work. Let’s make them all (or most) at least want to work!
Thank you for this very astute comment. You are absolutely right about raising ‘entitled’ kids. And it is not just America. We live two countries and the same is happening in Europe. Your information about the company you work with is probably repeated in many states…kids do not want to work and many (now adults) do not wish to do the jobs that immigrants WILL do and they we complain that “THEY” are taking our jobs. How many of us want to clean toilets and hotel rooms and sweep streets, good honest jobs, but we see so much on TV about how to be rich quick and what great lives we OUGHT to have with millions in our pockets and it is so unreal it is sickening. When we were young we were expected to work, even if only in summers, or even volunteer work, but WORK.
Your comment has been very stimulating to many. Thank you.
