Will anyone in a position of power ever GET IT? Mr. Putin, specifically. Thank heaven I am NOT his kitty. Ever since the Arab Spring and the uprisings of the awakening populations of so many countries in the last 5 years, it is clear to this kitty that people do not wish to be ruled with iron fists by so-called leaders who really only wish to keep their subjects controlled, both in mind and body. A sort of barefoot and pregnant state for the masses, no? What on earth could be more unbalanced?
Will these guys ever WAKE UP? Obama battles the controlling, fearful, suspicious Congress and the Ukranians battle Yanukovych (Ya noo ko’ vitch, just for the record) and Putin, and the Egyptians battle The Muslim Brotherhood and the possible take-over by the army and General Abdel Fatah el-Sisi, who may or may not be a good choice to lead right now or ever, and Syria is still in terrible strife. Even Turkey is having upsets.
Not to mention the standstill between Israelies and Palestinians. What is heartening is that there are many letters to the editor of The New York Times written by Jewish readers who feel that sanctions against Israel are important for the solution to this old dispute over lands claimed by Israel, lands that actually belong to the Palestinians.
Two states are the only solutions.
As I’ve mentioned before, felines are territorial, too, but we don’t go into another kittie’s area and simply take it over without expecting some kind of rumble!
It is so, so obvious to this kitty that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar, and that if you are a benevolent leader of your country’s people with the ability to listen to their demands for a safe, prosperous life with freedom of speech and actions and if you are willing to help them achieve this, you will be in power for as long as you wish. In short, if you are all working together.
Even a kittyknows that listening is the number one virtue in a leader. Listening to the peoples’ need for fairness, for equality, for economic stability, for a safe environment in which to raise families, for education, for job training and security, for enough to eat, for shelter, for freedom of expression, for art, for music, for a sense that those who are leading their country are not power-hungry, corrupt crooks who will not even stop at violence against their own if it suits their purposes.
And why do tyrants and megalamaniacs so often become “leaders”, spinning lies and creating deception wherever they turn?
Food for thought.
Goodness knows I think it about it all the time, but what’s a lowly kitty to do?
I suppose I should really study my Russian a bit more thoroughly, because even in English, double-talk is not easy to decipher…
And Mr. Putin is a master at it.
But this master has absolutely no idea that the world has changed radically. And it will continue to change, even as he is eventually pushed aside by the young, vibrant revolutionaries he so fears. As well he might…
This is my Putin impersonation….hiding from the truth.
