You know, guarding papa’s jeans while he is helping mama at the expo is wearing me OUT.
Well, tomorrow is finally the last day of the expo and mama is ready to take down everything and start on new canvasses. And I’m ready to have her home a bit more, as she is gone almost all day.
Lots of people came through but…let’s be blunt: lookie loos but no spenders.
There was, however, one young woman who said she would sell everything she owned for the painting of Mya in a brilliantly painted princess suit!
But it’s not for sale at ALL I mean, that’s MYA, okay? But that lady really wanted the portrait because she has a doggy who looks just like Mya’s twin!
Hey, the tourists can’t take home paintings in their suitcases and mostly they are browsing for fun things to do in our little towns and not really out to invest in art.
But what the heck! Mama sold a couple and there was some interest in a particular painting that mama refuses to sell. Ever. Let’s just say, it is promised to another.
This is the lady mama’s and papa’s friend wants. Mama tried to paint another one for him, but it’s not what she does well. Only one to a customer, haha.
I see it this way — if you keep something too long, maybe you sort of stagnate with the keeping of it and maybe it would be better to let it go. Certainly where bad feelings are concerned, or avarice, or greed, or hatred, or prejudice. But a painting? Who knows. It’s one of mama’s favorites but there’s a man who wants it and keeps saying, “One day, I’m going to have that painting” and things like that, but mama is just not ready to part with it.
I think I’ll let go of wanting so much snuggling. I’m not sure my fur isn’t wearing off, thanks to papa!
Well, at least your mama’s work is getting seen by so many people! That’s pawsome!
Yes, that is nice. And papa took GOOD photos, unlike mama’s, haha. Now she has to update her pathetic website….
Ooooh – what a surprise to see MY portrait on your blog!!! Mama has decided to do a few more elaborate ones on a grand scale scale since that seems to be a hot item! Your BIG portrait (the one mama thinks would sell like hotcakes on canvas pillow cushions) got lots of attention. Well, Loulou, our mamas were told several times how their art was so joyous and made them laugh like no other art expo. And our mamas laughed a lot for sure! Oh well, now they know first-hand what starving artist means! Except they ate really well (teehee, so did I), so what DOES that mean!!?? I thnk they need to do another one soon!!!
I think they are going to do much better next time…mama has ideas and I KNOW your mama has ideas and I think we’ll all be surprised…take good care of your mama. She’s TIRED.
I am glad the show is doing well.
So much excitement! Guess after tomorrow your mama and papa will rest a bit and snuggle with you more. You’ve been very patient letting them attend the expo without you. 🙂
Well, frankly, I don’t do well in crowds and I was HAPPY to keep the home cosy.
Oh LouLou – sometimes even when you love something you have created – like this art – you realize it might need to be let go. As I get older I am having to make some decisions about parting with some of my “treasures” – not great art, but family heirlooms
or some worthwhile possessions.
