Hey, I’m just singin’ along with Lady Gaga…”The hills are alive…”
Well, not me, obviously. I thought I was up for Best Supporting Role As A Household Pet In “Imitation Game” or at least a prize for my walk-on role in “Gone Girl” (I was in costume) but alas, no golden statues for me.
Oh, but I watched the Oscars with mama and papa who had recorded them in three parts so we could skip a lot of stuff and get to the meat of things, so to speak.
It was a four-hanky morning for mama. Here you see only two but there were definitely more, especially when she heard the acceptance speech of the Best Supporting Actor, J. K. Simmons, who urged kids to call their parents—no Twitter, no Texting—and tell them what they mean to the kids. Hurrah for him, one of my favorite actors anytime, anywhere.
Only two of mama’s tear-soaked hankies…that guy in the back is stunned.
And more tears were to come when Glen Campbell’s song was sung…mama’s brother suffers from memory loss and that was one amazing thing Mr. Campbell did for his family.
Then another hanky for Julianne Moore and all the Mexican crew and director, Iñárritu, whose lively humor, excellent writing and whimsical directing were what films are all about. Olé!!!
So it was a good Oscar morning (for us because we watched them at breakfast, recorded from the night before—no one wanted to get up at 3am to see them!), and let’s hope we can see some of the films that won in the documentary section. I know there was also an animated film with lots of cats in it so I’m pushing for that one…
Hey, I can’t watch even two hours of Oscars, much less SIX!! I’m tuckered out..
The Oscars put you to sleep? 🙂
Hey, seen one, seen ’em all and there were no KITTIES!!! Or doggy-winners, for that matter…Marcus could have won for best eater.
The mom watched the whole Oscar show. Us?? We dozed off after about the first hour. 🙂
WOW. Mama used to do that and then it was a 12-hanky night but as she got…more…er…not…as young as she used to be…she chose sleep and recorded highlights!
